A Testis‐Specific Aralkylamine N‐Acetyltransferase Regulates Dimorphic Sperm Function and Male Fertility in Moths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.

Chemical Proteomics Identifies Ketogenesis‐Mediated Cysteine Modifications Regulating Redox Function

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Herein, we report ketone body induce cysteine modifications beyond lysine acylation, as revealed by integrating chemical proteomics with open‐search methods. Among the modifications, cysteine crotonation (Ccr) was chemically validated by endogenous peptide‐based co‐elution assays.

Effect of gamma irradiation on fatty acid composition of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fillets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of low-dose gamma irradiation (0, 1, 3 and 5 kGy) on fatty acid composition of Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fillet. Among all of the fatty acids, oleic acid (C18:1) (with mean 33.50±3.02 g/100

Polymerization of Unsaturated Fatty Acids. II.

open access: yesJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 1964
The polymerization of methyl linoleate in the presence of aluminium halides, AlI3, AlBr3, AlCl3 and AlF3 at 300°C was studied. The result shows that only aluminium iodide among the halides promotes the polymerization. The effects of reaction conditions on the polymerization of methyl linoleate with aluminium iodide were studied further.
