Fault tolerant control in an unmanned bicycle robot via sliding mode theory
In this work, a new active fault tolerant control (FTC) is developed for an unmanned bicycle robot based on an integration between a sliding mode control (SMC), fault detection (FD), and fault estimation (FE) via a residual signal.

Effect of optimal torque control on rotor loss of fault-tolerant permanent-magnet brushless machines [PDF]
A faulted phase in a fault-tolerant permanent-magnet brushless machine can result in significant torque ripple. However, this can be minimized by using an appropriate optimal torque control strategy.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Fault Diagnosis and Fault-Tolerant Control Scheme for Quadcopter UAVs with a Total Loss of Actuator
Fault-tolerant control has drawn attention in recent years owning to its reliability and safe flight during missions. In this article, an active fault-tolerant control method is proposed to control a quadcopter in the presence of actuator faults and ...

Adaptive Signal Processing Strategy for a Wind Farm System Fault Accommodation [PDF]
In order to improve the availability of offshore wind farms, thus avoiding unplanned operation and maintenance costs, which can be high for offshore installations, the accommodation of faults in their earlier occurrence is fundamental.

Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

Fault tolerant model predictive control of open channels [PDF]
Automated control of water systems (irrigation canals, navigation canals, rivers etc.) relies on the measured data. The control action is calculated, in case of feedback controller, directly from the on-line measured data.

Reliability Modeling of Fault Tolerant Control Systems [PDF]
Reliability Modeling of Fault Tolerant Control SystemsThis paper proposes a novel approach to reliability evaluation for active Fault Tolerant Control Systems (FTCSs). By introducing a reliability index based on the control performance and hard deadline, a semi-Markov process model is proposed to describe system operation for reliability evaluation ...

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.
