Biostimulant effects of Rugulopteryx okamurae aqueous extracts on radish growth

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract In recent years, the invasive algae Rugulopteryx okamurae has spread along the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts, causing ecological and economic damage. However, upwelling algae could provide a valuable source of carbon biomass for circular economy applications. Marine algae, particularly brown algae, have a long history of use in agriculture

Comparison of Uptake of Cadmium at Low Concentrations Under Hydroponic and Soil‐Based Agriculture Systems for Lettuce, Indian Spinach and Methi

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Using recycled water for agriculture offers a sustainable approach by adding inherent nutrients and moisture to the soil. However, it contains unwanted contaminants such as heavy metals like cadmium at lower concentrations. This study assessed the comparative response of three leafy crops ‐ lettuce, Indian spinach and methi, against cadmium ...

Antibacterial effect of sprouts against human pathogens in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sprouts contain minerals, vitamins, and other compounds, which may have antimicrobial activity. Antimicrobial compounds are released from homogenized sprouts and diffuse into the culture medium inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria.

Β-amylase from starchless seeds of Trigonella foenum-graecum and its localization in germinating seeds. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) seeds do not contain starch as carbohydrate reserve. Synthesis of starch is initiated after germination. A β-amylase from ungerminated fenugreek seeds was purified to apparent electrophoretic homogeneity.

Antiproliferative Effect of Okra Seed Protein Isolate against HepG2 and A549 Cell Lines

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
Cytotoxic effects exhibited by OSPI against A549 cells significantly reduced the cell viability. Elevated caspase levels induced by OSPI in Hep‐G2 cells suggest intrinsic and extrinsic apoptosis. Treatment with OSPI and DOF exhibited elevated p53 expression in A549 cells, suggesting p53‐mediated apoptosis.
