Design of peptide-containing N5-unmodified neutral flavins that catalyze aerobic oxygenations [PDF]
Simulation of the monooxygenation function of flavoenzyme (Fl-Enz) has been long-studied with N5-modified cationic flavins (FlEt+), but never with N5-unmodified neutral flavins (Fl) despite the fact that Fl is genuinely equal to the active center of Fl ...

Photoacoustic spectra and photovoltaic effect of flavins
Photoacoustic spectra and the kinetics of the photovoltaic effect, as well as action spectra of 10-formylmethylisoalloxazine, riboflavin, flavomononucleotide and the complexes of flavins with riboflavin-bound proteins, were measured. The spectral regions

Binuclear Copper‐Dependent Oxidative Enzymes Involved in Fungal Natural Product Modifications
This article summarizes recent biochemical characterizations of a new enzyme family named by the authors as binuclear copper‐dependent oxidative enzymes (BiNCOs). Found in fungal natural product biosynthesis, BiNCOs catalyze diverse CH functionalization reactions, including C(sp3)H halogenation, C(sp3)H hydroxylation, C(sp3)O macrocyclization, and ...

Abstract In recent years, the clinical treatment and symptom management of neurological disorders have faced significant challenges due to the high complexity of the nervous system's structure and function. Against this backdrop, physical stimulation techniques have emerged as a vital complementary approach to traditional pharmacological treatments and

Properties of flavins where the 8-Methyl group is replaced by mercapto-Residues
Sulfur functions in position 8 of the flavin nucleus give rise to new modified flavin derivatives, which should prove useful as probes of the flavin binding domains of flavoproteins. Here, we report on some properties of 8-nor-8-alkylmercaptoflavins and

Abstract Background Periodontitis is a widespread, chronic infection‐triggered inflammatory condition in which professional supportive periodontal care (SPC) and daily oral hygiene form the backbone to reduce the disease activity. Light‐based treatments have shown promising antibacterial effects, but their potential for routine home use has not been ...

Abstract BACKGROUND Over the past two decades, the global incidence of gout has markedly increased, affecting people worldwide. Considering the side effects of xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor drugs (e.g. allopurinol and febuxostat) used in the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout, the potential application of phytochemicals has been widely studied.

SPROUTS_DB: An Implemented Database of Contaminants for Extracellular Vesicle Proteomics Studies
ABSTRACT Current proteomics techniques allow rapid identification and quantification of proteins within any given biological source. However, LC–MS/MS proteomics is vulnerable to laboratory and sample‐associated contaminants. Therefore, accurate identification and annotation of such contaminants is crucial for development of reliable databases ...

ABSTRACT BorF is a short‐chain flavin reductase from a desert soil bacterium that uses NADH to reduce FAD to FADH2, which is used by the tryptophan‐6‐halogenase BorH to chlorinate tryptophan in the biosynthetic pathway of borregomycin A. The X‐ray crystal structure of BorF bound to FAD was solved to 2.37 Å by molecular replacement.
