Recent occurence of human infection by Rocio arbovirus in Ribeira Valley, Brazil

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 1989
The presence of IgM antibodies to Rocio in sera of two children from rural area of Ribeira Valley, Brazil, was detected by MAC-ELISA. This new arbovirus of the Flaviviridae family was responsible for an extensive encephalitis epidemic that occurred in ...

Allosteric Inhibitors of Zika Virus NS2B-NS3 Protease Targeting Protease in “Super-Open” Conformation

open access: yesViruses, 2023
The Zika virus (ZIKV), a member of the Flaviviridae family, is considered a major health threat causing multiple cases of microcephaly in newborns and Guillain-Barré syndrome in adults. In this study, we targeted a transient, deep, and hydrophobic pocket

OUTBREAK OF ZIKA VIRUS DISEASE AND ITS COMPLICATIONS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of IMAB, 2016
Zika virus (ZIKV) is an arbovirus from Flaviviridae family, genus Flavivirus. Like most of the viruses which belong to the Flavivirus genus, it replicates in and is transmitted by mosquitoes.

Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus: Recent Findings about Its Occurrence in Pigs

open access: yesViruses, 2020
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is an important pathogen belonging to the Pestivirus genus, Flaviviridae family, which comprises viral species that causes an economic impact in animal production. Cattle are the natural host of BVDV and the main source

CRISPR–Cas system to discover host-virus interactions in Flaviviridae

open access: yes, 2023
The Flaviviridae virus family members cause severe human diseases and are responsible for considerable mortality and morbidity worldwide. Therefore, researchers have conducted genetic screens to enhance insight into viral dependency and develop potential

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Human Pegivirus Encephalitis With Brain Detection and Response to Sofosbuvir Ledipasvir

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human pegivirus (HPgV‐1) has been associated with severe encephalomyelitis in immunocompromised patients. Its neurological spectrum remains poorly defined. We report a slowly progressive encephalitis in a person living with well‐controlled HIV, characterized by white matter abnormalities and inflammatory cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). HPgV RNA was

MAIT cells are activated in acute Dengue virus infection and after in vitro Zika virus infection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2018
Dengue virus (DENV) and Zika virus (ZIKV) are members of the Flaviviridae and are predominantly transmitted via mosquito bites. Both viruses are responsible for a growing number of infections in tropical and subtropical regions.
