Batteries From Reused, Recycled, and Surplus Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 7, July 2026.
Batteries can become more circular by combining reuse, direct recycling, metallurgical recovery, and material sourcing from industrial surplus streams. This Review highlights how recycled and waste‐derived metals, carbons, polymers, electrolytes, and active materials can be reintegrated into current and emerging batteries, while emphasizing design ...

A lot of variation and asymmetry in the white patches of male capercaillie tails, but no association with mate choice

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
White patches of male capercaillie tails vary greatly in coverage and symmetry, but the amount of white or the symmetry of the patches was not associated with mate choice. Female choice does not appear to be based on the white patterns on the tail. Highly visible at dawn, the patches may instead facilitate individual identification.

Effects of a 4‐Week Multi‐Exercise Isometric Resistance Training Programme on Resting and Ambulatory Blood Pressure in Normotensive Adults

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Isometric resistance training (IRT) can reduce resting and ambulatory blood pressure (AmBP) yet established exercise methods lack versatility and may present with participation barriers. An isometric training band (ITB) has been identified as an alternative modality; however, its long‐term effects on resting and ambulatory blood pressure (BP ...

A Single Session of Slackline Training Induces Rapid, Task‐Specific Balance Improvements and Elevated Resting‐State Beta Band Power

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Balance training underpins both sports performance and rehabilitation, while its efficacy depends on the amount of training and task difficulty. Here, we characterized neurophysiological changes accompanying the earliest phase of slackline‐specific balance acquisition within a closely matched active‐control design. For this purpose, 35 healthy,
