“Alien versus predator”: predatory effect of coccinellid Exochomus quadripustulatus on the scale insect Toumeyella parvicornis. An open‐field experimentation on the Pinus pinea of Rome

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The release of gravid Exochomus quadripustulatus females proved to be effective in containing Toumeyella parvicornis infestations on stone pine trees, under open‐field condition. The ladybugs caused a lower infestation level compared to the trees that did not receive any ladybugs during the observation season.

A revised classification system of the marronoid clade of spiders (Araneae), based on dense sampling phylogenomics and comparative morphology

open access: yesCladistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The marronoid clade is a globally distributed, ecologically diverse group of spiders. It is an important faunal component in both natural and synanthropic environments, and even found in aquatic and extreme habitats such as desert salt flats. The systematics of the marronoid clade has been notoriously unstable due to the widespread character ...

Integrating Indigenous knowledge and modern statistical approaches to model wildlife density based on animal track counts

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract In multiuse areas outside formal protection, sustaining both wildlife and people is critical to wildlife conservation and coexistence efforts. Botswana's Kalahari hosts one of sub‐Saharan Africa’s largest unprotected areas supporting free‐ranging wildlife.
