A Pseudo‐Two‐Dimensional Reaction–Diffusion Model for Rational Design of Antibacterial–Antioxidant Ag–ZnO/Fucoidan Nanocomposites

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
A pseudo‐two‐dimensional (P2D) reaction–diffusion framework is proposed to model reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, transport, and scavenging in Ag–ZnO/Fucoidan nanocomposites. Spatially segregated ROS source (Ag–ZnO) and sink (fucoidan) domains are embedded into a one‐dimensional computational model, capturing nonlinear feedback between site ...

Acute Lung Injury: From Molecular Circuits to System‐Level Therapeutics

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
This visual summary illustrates the paradigm shift from linear pathways to network medicine in ALI. Three interconnected circuits—innate immunity, immunometabolism, and cell death (PANoptosis)—drive disease progression under multiorgan crosstalk (gut–lung, brain–lung).

Formulation and Characterization of Fucoidan‐Based Hydrogels for 3D Printing Applications

open access: yesJournal of Food Process Engineering, Volume 49, Issue 6, June 2026.
Algal polysaccharide‐based hydrogels combining fucoidan, sodium alginate, and agar showed suitable rheological and structural properties for extrusion‐based 3D printing. The formulation containing equal concentrations of alginate and agar exhibited superior printability, structural stability, and printing fidelity.

Comparison of antioxidant potential in vitro, in cell cultivation and in vivo of commercially obtained fucoidans

open access: yes, 2021
Fucoidans are sulfated L-fucose-rich polysaccharides that are extracted from brown seaweed. These polymers are already commercially available and have been evaluated for various purposes. One of the most evaluated activities is the antioxidant, among the

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 20, 27 May 2026.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Alternating High‐Fat and Polysaccharide Diets Modulates Gut Phage‐Bacterial Interplay

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 29, 22 May 2026.
This study reveals how alternating high‐fat and polysaccharide diets reshape the human gut virome and enhance phage‐bacteria interactions. Using large‐scale metagenomic meta‐analysis and a time‐resolved mouse model, the authors show that diets strongly modulate phage abundance, lifestyle, and gene exchange, offering new insights into nutrition‐guided ...

The Role of Sulfates in Fucoidan Extracted from Fucus evanescens in Proinflammatory Cytokines Production by Human Peripheral Blood Cells in vitro

open access: yesАнтибиотики и Химиотерапия, 2020
Fucoidans, sulfated polysaccharides extracted from brown algae (Phaeophyceae), have a wide spectrum of bioactivity. Studies of molecular structures of fucoidans and deciphering of molecular elements' impact on their biological activities are at their ...
