Fumonisin B1 contamination of cereals and risk of esophageal cancer in a high risk area in Northeastern Iran [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Introduction: Fumonisin B1 (FB1) is a toxic and carcinogenic mycotoxin produced in cereals due to fungal infection. This study was conducted to determine FB1 contamination of rice and corn samples and its relationship with the rate of esophageal cancer ...

Lactobacillus plantarum MYS6 Ameliorates Fumonisin B1-Induced Hepatorenal Damage in Broilers

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Fumonisin B1 (FB1), a mycotoxin produced by Fusarium species is a predominant Group 2B carcinogen occurring in maize and maize-based poultry feeds. It is shown to be nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic, neurotoxic, and immunosuppressing in animals.

Development of a Novel, Simultaneous Determination Method for Heterocyclic Amines and Mycotoxins in Fried Food by UPLC–MS/MS Combined With QuEChERS

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
• A novel QuEChERS‐UPLC‐MS/MS method was successfully developed for the simultaneous determination of two β‐carboline heterocyclic amines and seven mycotoxins in fried foods. ABSTRACT Dietary exposure to both processing contaminants and natural toxins in fried foods poses a potential health risk, but analytical methods for their simultaneous monitoring

Fumonisin Production by Fusarium verticillioides in Maize Genotypes Cultivated in Different Environments

open access: yesToxins, 2019
Fumonisins are mycotoxins (MTs) produced mainly by the fungus Fusarium verticillioides, the main pathogens of maize which cause ear rot. The aim of this work was to evaluate some factors that may lead to high fumonisin production by F. verticillioides in

Aflatoxin B1, B2, G1, G2, Zearalenone, and Ochratoxin A in Cereals, Cereal‐Based Products and Baby Food: Method Validation, Monitoring Study and Exposure Assessment of the Italian Population

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
A validated HPLC‐FLD analytical method for the determination of aflatoxins, zearalenone, and ochratoxin A in cereals was applied to the analysis of 402 samples collected in Italy from 2013 to 2023 and to perform a risk assessment evaluation for the Italian population. Prevalence of contaminated samples was generally low and restricted to maize samples.

Occurrence of mycotoxins in milk and dairy products in Brazil: A review of recent data, regulatory aspects, preventive and decontamination strategies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dairy Technology, Volume 79, Issue 2, April–June 2026.
Mycotoxin data in Brazilian milk and dairy products over 20 years indicate aflatoxin M1 as the most frequent, although ochratoxin A, fumonisins and deoxynivalenol were also found in some studies. These data underscore the importance of control measures to reduce dietary mycotoxins in Brazilian dairy feed and avoid their residues in milk.

Effects of four Fusarium toxins (fumonisin B(1), alpha-zearalenol, nivalenol and deoxynivalenol) on porcine whole-blood cellular proliferation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The in vitro effects of four Fusarium toxins, fumonisin B1 (FB1), a-zearalenol (a-ZEA), nivalenol (NIV) and deoxynivalenol (DON), on mitogen-induced cell proliferation were determined in swine whole-blood cultures.
