Characterization of Fumonisin B1-GlucoseReaction Kinetics and Products

open access: yes, 2002
The reaction of fumonisin B1 with the reducing sugar D-glucose can block the primary amine group of fumonisin B1 and may detoxify this mycotoxin. A method to separate hundred milligram quantities of fumonisin B1-glucose reaction products from the excess ...

Determination of fumonisin B1 levels in body fluids and hair from piglets fed fumonisin B1-contaminated diets

open access: yesFood and Chemical Toxicology, 2017
The levels of fumonisin B1 (FB1) residues in plasma, urine, feces and hair from 24 piglets fed FB1-contaminated diets containing 3.1, 6.1 or 9.0 μg FB1.g-1 for 28 days were determined using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The levels of FB1 in plasma, urine, feces and pooled hair (n = 3) samples varied from 0.15 to 1.08 μg.

Micotossine e micotossicosi: Fumonisina B1 = Mycotoxins and mycotoxicoses: Fumonisin B1

open access: yes, 2005
Fumonisins are a group of mycotoxins recently discovered, toxic for humans and animals, produced by moulds of Fusarium like F. verticillioides, that grow on cereals and on by-products for human and animal consumption.

Haematological and serum biochemical response of growing rabbit bucks fed dietary fumonisin B1

open access: yes, 2010
An experiment was conducted with 48 crossbred rabbits (49 days old) averaging 757.5 ± 0.50 g to assess haematological and serum biochemical response of growing rabbits exposed to varied levels ofdietary fumonisin of 0.1, 5.0, 7.5 and 10 mg fumonisin B1 ...

Determination of the amount of bioaccessible fumonisin B1 in different matrices after in vitro digestion

open access: yes, 2015
Conventional analytical methods used for the analysis of fumonisin content in animal feeds fail to take into account the fumonisin content bound to the matrix, which is otherwise bioaccessible and can be absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Moreover,

Impact of ecophysiological factors on biocontrol of aflatoxin contamination of maize by atoxigenic aspergillus flavus strains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study has (a) evaluated the biodiversity in toxigenic mycobiota associated with maize from subsistence farmers’ stores in five climatic regions of Lesotho in two seasons, (b) compared the effect of ecophysiological factors on interactions between ...

FUNGAL AND MICOTOXIN CONTAMINATION IN MIXED FEEDS: EVALUATING RISK IN CATTLE INTENSIVE REARING OPERATIONS (FEEDLOTS) [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Bio Ciencias, 2012
Argentina is the fourth global beef producer. Exposure to mycotoxins through contaminated feed is a major hazard for ruminants. In the present study we assess mycobiota, aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), fumonisin B1 (FB1), deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone (ZEA ...
