Fine Mapping, Transcriptome Analysis, and Marker Development for Y2, the Gene That Conditions β-Carotene Accumulation in Carrot (Daucus carota L.)

open access: yesG3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics, 2017
Domesticated carrots, Daucus carota subsp. sativus, are the richest source of β-carotene in the US diet, which, when consumed, is converted into vitamin A, an essential component of eye health and immunity.

Comparisons of improved genomic predictions generated by different imputation methods for genotyping by sequencing data in livestock populations

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, 2020
Background Genotyping by sequencing (GBS) still has problems with missing genotypes. Imputation is important for using GBS for genomic predictions, especially for low depths, due to the large number of missing genotypes.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Genomic predictions improve the performance of clonal cultivars in oil palm. [PE0834] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Prediction of clonal genetic value is among the difficulties of the genetic improvement of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) yield. Presently, clonal selection requires two stages of phenotypic selection (PS): preselection on the phenotypic values of ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Utilization of Genotyping-by-Sequencing (GBS) for Rice Pre-Breeding and Improvement: A Review

open access: yesLife, 2022
Molecular markers play a crucial role in the improvement of rice. To benefit from these markers, genotyping is carried out to identify the differences at a specific position in the genome of individuals.

Flexible and scalable genotyping-by-sequencing strategies for population studies [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2014

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Applications of genotyping by sequencing in aquaculture breeding and genetics [PDF]

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, 2017
AbstractSelective breeding is increasingly recognized as a key component of sustainable production of aquaculture species. The uptake of genomic technology in aquaculture breeding has traditionally lagged behind terrestrial farmed animals. However, the rapid development and application of sequencing technologies has allowed aquaculture to narrow the ...
