Comparative evaluation of data‐driven weather forecast models performance for medium‐ to extended‐range weather forecasting and tropical cyclone genesis in 2024

open access: yesWeather, EarlyView.
This study examines the performance of state‐of‐the‐art artificial intelligence (AI) weather forecasting models in 2024. For tropical cyclone genesis forecasts in the western North Pacific, AI models generally perform better than the physics‐based European Centre for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) Integrated Forecasting System (IFS ...

Peixe Zircon as a Quality Control Reference Material in U‐Pb Geochronology by LA‐ICP‐MS

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Peixe#0 zircon was characterised for U‐Pb geochronology using CA‐ID‐TIMS, SIMS and a long‐term LA‐ICP‐MS data set. The consistent results establish Peixe#0 as a reference material for U‐Pb quality control. Trace element heterogeneity requires careful, CL‐guided spot selection.

MiR-139 suppresses β-casein synthesis and proliferation in bovine mammary epithelial cells by targeting the GHR and IGF1R signaling pathways

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2017
Background MicroRNAs have important roles in many biological processes. However, the role of miR-139 in healthy mammary gland remains unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of miR-139 on lactation in dairy cows. Results Here,

Novel InDels of GHR, GHRH, GHRHR and Their Association with Growth Traits in Seven Chinese Sheep Breeds

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
The GH growth axis plays an important role in the growth and development of animals and runs through the whole life of animals. Many studies have shown that molecular mutations in key genes of the GH axis will affect the growth and development of animals.

Effects of zearalenone on ovarian development of prepubertal gilts through growth hormone axis

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
This experiment aimed to establish the effects of zearalenone (ZEN) on ovarian development in prepubertal gilts through the growth hormone axis [growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) / growth hormone (GH) / growth hormone receptor (GHR)].

Expression of corticoid‐regulatory genes in the gills of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) parr and smolt and during salinity acclimation

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract In teleost fishes, cortisol is the major corticoid and has both glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid actions. However, how fish tissues discriminate between these distinct corticosteroid actions is unclear. In mammals, the major factors responsible for intracellular corticosteroid regulation are glucocorticoid receptors (grs) and the ...

Ghrelin and Ghrelin Receptor Modulation of Psychostimulant Action

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2013
Ghrelin (GHR) is an orexigenic gut peptide that modulates multiple homeostatic functions including gastric emptying, anxiety, stress, memory, feeding and reinforcement.

Goal Hierarchies: Understanding Sub‐Goal and Primary Goal Interdependency

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract There is increased research on how organizations respond to performance feedback on multiple goals. Most of it considers goals that have ambiguous ranking and thus differs from goal hierarchies with sub‐goals that are instrumental for accomplishing a primary goal.

GH receptor polymorphisms guide second-line therapies to prevent acromegaly skeletal fragility: preliminary results of a pilot study

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundSkeletal fragility is characterized by increased frequency of vertebral fractures (VFs) in acromegaly. Several trials were conducted to identify modifiable risk factors and predictors of VFs, with limited data on the prognostic role of GH ...

Human growth hormone receptor (GHR) expression in obesity: II. Regulation of the human GHR gene by obesity-related factors [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Obesity, 2011
In our previous analyses, we found significantly lower levels of growth hormone receptor (GHR) mRNA in adipose tissues of obese than in those of lean individuals, suggesting that idiopathic obesity involves GH resistance due to decreased GHR availability.
