Experimental Physiology, EarlyView.Abstract Acute myocardial infarction (MI) accelerates cardiomyocyte apoptosis, which underpins ventricular remodelling and dysfunction. The hormone ghrelin mitigates this remodelling, but the mechanisms remain unclear. Specific microRNAs (miRs) are key modulators and reliable biomarkers of early‐stage apoptosis.
