Ghrelin protects against cell death in myocardial ischaemia: Emerging role of microRNA

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Acute myocardial infarction (MI) accelerates cardiomyocyte apoptosis, which underpins ventricular remodelling and dysfunction. The hormone ghrelin mitigates this remodelling, but the mechanisms remain unclear. Specific microRNAs (miRs) are key modulators and reliable biomarkers of early‐stage apoptosis.

Loss of Adipose Growth Hormone Receptor in Mice Enhances Local Fatty Acid Trapping and Impairs Brown Adipose Tissue Thermogenesis

open access: yesiScience, 2019
Summary: Growth hormone (GH) binds to its receptor (growth hormone receptor [GHR]) to exert its pleiotropic effects on growth and metabolism. Disrupted GH/GHR actions not only fail growth but also are involved in many metabolic disorders, as shown in ...

Tau PET overlap index correlation with neuropathological findings

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The tau positron emission tomography (PET) overlap index (OI) has shown promise in maximizing signal‐to‐noise for longitudinal tau PET imaging, particularly for early tau pathology, but requires validation against neuropathology.

Cognitive screening biases in a secondary prevention Alzheimer's disease clinical trial

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Alzheimer's disease (AD) prevention trials have multiple steps to identify cognitively unimpaired individuals with AD biomarker evidence. Cognitive/functional screening tests may be biased in ethnoracial minorities, impacting trial eligibility.

Growth hormone receptor promotes osteosarcoma cell growth and metastases

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2020
Osteosarcoma (OS) is the primary bone malignancy in children and adolescents, with a high incidence of lung metastasis and poor prognosis. Here, we report that growth hormone receptor (GHR) is overexpressed in OS samples compared with osteofibrous ...

Efficacy of a Multicomponent Intervention for Frailty or Physical Function in Prefrail or Frail Older Adults: FRAILMERIT Multicenter Clinical Trial

open access: yesJournal of the American Geriatrics Society, Volume 74, Issue 3, Page 658-668, March 2026.
Clinical management of the older adult. ABSTRACT Objectives Frailty is a common condition in community‐dwelling older adults with high health and socioeconomic implications. However, primary care‐led randomized trials have been scarcely tested. Design Multicenter cluster randomized clinical trial.

Relationship between of Exon 3 (+/-) Genotypes of Growth Hormone Receptor and Metabolic Risk Factors in Patients in Pre-diabetic State

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2013
Background: Metabolic impacts of two important alleles of trh growth hormone receptors (GHR), one with retention of exon 3 [exon 3 (+) GHR] and the other with the deletion of it [exon 3 (-) GHR], on the metabolic risk factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus (

Hypothalamic growth hormone receptor (GHR) controls hepatic glucose production in nutrient-sensing leptin receptor (LepRb) expressing neurons

open access: yesMolecular Metabolism, 2017
Objective: The GH/IGF-1 axis has important roles in growth and metabolism. GH and GH receptor (GHR) are active in the central nervous system (CNS) and are crucial in regulating several aspects of metabolism. In the hypothalamus, there is a high abundance

Elevated temporal tau PET predicts faster cognitive decline in women than men: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Women show higher levels of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology than men, but the implications for cognitive decline remain unclear. Determining the extent to which tau burden differentially accelerates cognitive decline in men and women will provide critical insights into sex‐specific pathways of disease progression.

The Associations of GH and GHR Genes with Carcass Components in Indonesian Kampung and Broiler Chicken Cross

open access: yesMedia Peternakan, 2017
The chicken growth hormone (GH) and its receptor (growth hormone receptor, GHR) play important roles in chicken performances due to their crucial functions in growth.
