Protein aggregation and neurodegenerative disease: Structural outlook for the novel therapeutics

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, Volume 93, Issue 8, Page 1314-1329, August 2025.
Abstract Before the controversial approval of humanized monoclonal antibody lecanemab, which binds to the soluble amyloid‐β protofibrils, all the treatments available earlier, for Alzheimer's disease (AD) were symptomatic. The researchers are still struggling to find a breakthrough in AD therapeutic medicine, which is partially attributable to lack in ...

Natural products targeting tumour angiogenesis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue 10, Page 2094-2136, May 2025.
Abstract Tumour angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels to support the growth of a tumour. This process is critical for tumour progression and metastasis, making it an attractive approach to cancer therapy. Natural products derived from plants, animals or microorganisms exert anti‐angiogenic properties and can be used to inhibit tumour ...

Syntheses of Ring-substituted Flavonoids and Allied Compounds. X. Synthesis of Ginkgetin.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1963
The condensation of 3'-iodo-5-benzoyloxy-4', 7-dimethoxyflavone and 5-benzoyloxy-8-iodo-4', 7-dibenzyloxyflavone was carried out at 225∼230°for 40 minutes, with activated copper powder. The chloroform extract of the reaction mixture was heated with 10% H2SO4 in AcOH at 110° for 10 minutes to hydrolyze benzoyl and benzyl groups.

Artesunate induces ferroptosis in osteosarcoma through NCOA4‐mediated ferritinophagy

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 7, 15 April 2025.
The graphic abstract of this research, and the detailed description are in the abstract. Abstract Osteosarcoma (OS) is a prevalent primary malignant bone tumor that lacks effective therapeutic interventions. Artesunate (ART) has been proved to have remarkable treatment effects on severe malaria and anti‐tumor properties. This study aimed to investigate

Liver‐Secreted Extracellular Vesicles Promote Cirrhosis‐Associated Skeletal Muscle Injury Through mtDNA‐cGAS/STING Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 9, March 6, 2025.
During the progression of liver cirrhosis, mitochondrial injury in hepatocytes promotes the release of mtDNA‐enriched EVs, which further activate cGAS‐STING signaling in skeletal muscle macrophages by shedding mtDNA. Conversely, targeted inhibition of hepatic EV secretion or STING signaling can mitigate skeletal muscle inflammatory injury and atrophy ...

Ginkgetin induces cell death in breast cancer cells via downregulation of the estrogen receptor

open access: yesOncology Letters, 2017
Ginkgetin is a natural biflavonoid isolated from the leaves of Ginkgo biloba, and is characterized by its anti-inflammatory and anti-viral activities. Although numerous studies state that it has also antitumor activity, the anti-proliferative effect of ginkgetin and the underlying mechanism in breast cancer cells have not yet been investigated.

Examining the Impact of Microglia on Ischemic Stroke With an Emphasis on the Metabolism of Immune Cells

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 31, Issue 2, February 2025.
After ischemic stroke, resting microglia transform into pro‐inflammatory or anti‐inflammatory microglia under different conditions, respectively. Moreover, microglia respond to the environment by flexibly reprogramming intracellular metabolic pathways, thereby altering immune function, which mainly includes glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, and ...
