Chromosome‐Level Genome Assembly of the Allotetraploid Gynostemma pentaphyllum Provides Novel Insights Into the Biosynthesis of Ginsenoside and Gypenoside LVI

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gynostemma pentaphyllum, a herb used in tea and traditional Chinese medicine, shows geographic variation in its production of valuable dammarane‐type ginsenosides and gypenoside LVI between populations from Suining (SN) and Nanning (NN). To elucidate the mechanisms underlying this differential metabolite accumulation, a chromosome‐level genome

Ginsenoside-Rb1 Induces ARPE-19 Proliferation and Reduces VEGF Release [PDF]

open access: yesISRN Ophthalmology, 2011
Rb1, a ginsenoside from ginseng root extract, possesses antiangiogenic effects, but its role on ocular cells has not been studied. We hypothesize that Rb1 inhibits the production of the angiogenic cytokine VEGF from ARPE-19 cells, leading to a significant reduction in the proliferation of ocular vasculatures.

Ginsenosides act as positive modulators of P2X4 receptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We investigated the selectivity of protopanaxadiol ginsenosides from Panax ginseng acting as positive allosteric modulators on P2X receptors. ATP-induced responses were measured in stable cell lines overexpressing human P2X4 using a YOPRO-1 dye uptake ...

Formulation and Pharmacological Evaluation of a Medicine‐Food Homology Herb‐Based Formula for Sleep Enhancement

open access: yesPhytochemicals in Food and Medicine, Volume 1, Issue 2, June 2026.
This outlines the progress for developing a sleep‐modulating herbal formula (SMF). It begins with the identification of effective compounds and quality control, then uses network pharmacology and molecular docking to explain the mechanisms behind the observation found on the behavioural and neurobiological results in animal study.

Ginsenoside Rb1 Ameliorates Age‐Related Cognitive Impairment Potentially by Modulating the NF‐κB Signaling Pathway

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Ginsenoside Rb1 may alleviate age‐related cognitive impairment by suppressing hippocampal inflammation, potentially through modulation of the NF‐κB signaling pathway. Abstract Introduction: Age‐related cognitive impairment affects the quality of life of the elderly, contributing to a substantial healthcare burden.

Particulate Matter 2.5 Mediates Cutaneous Cellular Injury by Inducing Mitochondria-Associated Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress: Protective Effects of Ginsenoside Rb1

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2019
The prevalence of fine particulate matter-induced harm to the human body is increasing daily. The aim of this study was to elucidate the mechanism by which particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) induces damage in human HaCaT keratinocytes and normal human dermal
