Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, Volume 7, Issue 2, Page 52-66, June 2026.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Structural Characterization of Ginseng Adventitious Root Polysaccharides and Their Effects on Ameliorating Insulin Resistance

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Purified ginseng adventitious root polysaccharides (GARP) improve insulin resistance by enhancing glucose and lipid metabolism and reducing oxidative stress. These beneficial effects are mediated, at least in part, through activation of the Nrf2/Keap1 signaling pathway in cellular and animal models.

Attenuation of TNF-α-Induced Inflammatory Injury in Endothelial Cells by Ginsenoside Rb1 via Inhibiting NF-κB, JNK and p38 Signaling Pathways

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
It is currently believed that inflammation plays a central role in the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis. Oxidative stress and redox-sensitive transcription factors are implicated in the process.

Polygonati Rhizoma Attenuates Oxidative Stress‐Induced Senescence in Periodontal Ligament Stem Cells

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Network pharmacology identified the potential targets and pathways of Polygonati Rhizoma (PR) against aging‐related periodontitis through PPI, GO/KEGG enrichment, and molecular docking. Experimental validation in a D‐galactose‐induced senescence model of periodontal ligament stem cells showed that PR‐medicated serum attenuated cellular senescence and ...

Effects of ginsenoside Rb1 on hypertrophic scar remodeling in rabbit model

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmacology, 2015
Ginsenoside, one of the active compounds in Panax ginseng, inhibits tumor growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1) and reduces the level of collagen type 1. Ginsenoside Rb1 promotes burn wound healing. Our study evaluated the effects of ginsenoside Rb1 on hypertrophic scar remodeling.

Ginsenoside Rb1 Attenuates Intestinal Ischemia Reperfusion Induced Renal Injury by Activating Nrf2/ARE Pathway

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Intestinal ischemia reperfusion (IIR) is a serious clinical condition associated with simultaneous multiple organ dysfunction. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ginsenoside Rb1 on IIR induced renal injury in mice.

Ginsenoside Rb1 attenuates activated microglia-induced neuronal damage

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2014
The microglia-mediated inflammatory reaction promotes neuronal damage under cerebral ischemia/hypoxia conditions. We therefore speculated that inhibition of hypoxia-induced microglial activation may alleviate neuronal damage. To test this hypothesis, we co-cultured ginsenoside Rb1, an active component of ginseng, and cortical neurons.
