MYB represses ζ-globin expression through upregulating ETO2

open access: yesActa Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica
Reactivating the embryonic ζ-globin gene represents a potential therapeutic approach to ameliorate the severe clinical phenotype of α-thalassemia and sickle cell disease.

Archipelago Method for Variant Set Association Test Statistics

open access: yesGenetic Epidemiology, Volume 50, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Variant set association tests (VSAT), especially those incorporating rare variants via variant collapse, are invaluable in genetic studies. However, unlike Manhattan plots for single‐variant tests, VSAT statistics lack intrinsic genomic coordinates, hindering visual interpretation.

Molecular Biology at the bedside: the impact of Genomics on the practice of medicine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Imagine being a newborn baby, discharged home after delivery, with a most unusual gift, a compact disc (CD) carrying all data on "My Genome". The parents would be most anxious to play it on their home PC. Soon, they could discover whether their child has

Predictive biomarkers for regression in women undergoing active surveillance for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2: A prospective multicenter study in Italy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 3, Page 587-596, 1 February 2026.
What's new? Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 (CIN2) lesions can spontaneously regress, especially in women aged under 30. Better predictive biomarkers are needed to improve risk stratification for active surveillance. This prospective multicenter cohort study evaluated HPV genotyping, p16/ki67 expression, and FAM19A4/miR124‐2 methylation ...

HDAC inhibition is associated to valproic acid induction of early megakaryocytic markers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Valproic acid (VPA), a histone deacetylase inhibitor, causes differentiation in different cell lines and in a cell-specific manner; yet, its effect on megakaryocytic (MK) differentiation has not been studied.

Functional characterization of NRT1/PTR FAMILY transporters: looking for a needle in a haystack

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 3, Page 1124-1144, February 2026.
Summary NRT1/PTR FAMILY (NPF) transporters play crucial roles in plant physiology and development due to their involvement in nitrogen nutrition and their ability to transport multiple signaling molecules and metabolites. Whereas most eukaryotic and prokaryotic NPF orthologs are peptide transporters, most flowering plant NPF transport other substrates ...

Enhancer‐dependent gene regulation in space, time, and malignancies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 2, Page 357-367, 15 January 2026.
Abstract Control of cell‐type‐specific gene activation requires the coordinated activity of distal regulatory elements, including enhancers, whose inputs must be temporally integrated. Dysregulation of this regulatory capacity, such as aberrant usage of enhancers, can result in malignant transformation of cells.
