Structural Impact of N‐terminal Pyroglutamate in an Amyloid‐β(3‐42) Fibril Probed by Solid‐State NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 10, February 16, 2024.
Solid state NMR spectroscopy on fibrils of recombinant, pyroglutamylated [U‐13C,15N]‐ pEAβ(3‐42) show highly similar β‐strand positions and a conserved turn region around V24 comparable to LS‐shaped Aβ(1‐42) fibrils. Due to missing D1‐A2 and pE3 formation a salt bridge of K28‐D1' is absent in pEAβ(3‐42) fibrils.

Increased QPCT gene expression by the hepatitis B virus promotes HBV replication.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Glutamine cyclase, an enzyme involved in posttranslational modifications, is encoded by the glutaminyl-peptide cyclotransferase (QPCT) gene. Gene microarray analysis revealed that the QPCT gene was highly expressed in HepG2.2.15 cells compared with that ...

Baricitinib and tofacitinib off‐target profile, with a focus on Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia: Translational Research &Clinical Interventions, Volume 10, Issue 1, January‐March 2024.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors were recently identified as promising drug candidates for repurposing in Alzheimer's disease (AD) due to their capacity to suppress inflammation via modulation of JAK/STAT signaling pathways. Besides interaction with primary therapeutic targets, JAK inhibitor drugs frequently interact with unintended,

A novel strategy for the management of non-productive cough: mechanisms, efficacy, safety. A review

open access: yesТерапевтический архив
Cough, as a protective reflex, can become hypersensitive under pathological conditions (e.g. acute respiratory viral infections, acute bronchitis, asthma), significantly impairing patients’ quality of life.
