Ovarian Cancer: Epidemiology, Disease Mechanisms, New Diagnosis and Treatment Strategies, and Research Directions

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ovarian cancer (OC) continues to be the deadliest gynecological malignancy and a significant cause of cancer‐related mortality among women worldwide. Standard treatment strategies typically entail platinum‐based chemotherapy in conjunction with cytoreductive surgery.

Selenium independent glutathione peroxidase activity associated with cationic forms of glutathione transferase in human heart

open access: yes, 1986
Glutathione peroxidase activity with both hydrogen peroxide and cumene hydroperoxide was measured in the cytosolic fractions prepared from five human hearts obtained from post-mortem victims.

S100A9 promotes pulmonary arterial hypertension by regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum interaction‐mediated inflammatory injury of endothelial cells

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Macrophage‐derived S100 calcium‐binding protein A9 (S100A9) promotes the pathological progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). S100A9 upregulates the interaction between signal‐transducing adaptor protein 2 and leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2, thereby regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum (ER) contact.

Studies on hepatic glutathione transferases from rat and man : 1. A kinetic mechanism for glutathione transferase A from rat liver. 2. Transferase µ, a new form of glutathione transferase in human liver

open access: yes, 1983
This study of glutathione transferases was undertaken to achieve a better understanding of the catalytic and molecular properties of various isozymes of this group of drug-metabolizing enzymes. The steady-state kinetics of purified glutathione transferase

Subchronic Exposure to Arsenic and Nickel Triggers Nitrosative Stress and Histological Alterations in the Rat Liver

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Environmental exposure to heavy metals poses a threat to human health. Several studies documented harmful effects on the liver after arsenic and nickel exposure at concentrations beyond permissible limits. Nevertheless, the impact of a simultaneous exposure to both elements on hepatic biochemistry and histology remains unelucidated. Therefore,

The Impact of Genetic Polymorphisms on Genotoxicity (DNA Damage) Among Children Exposed to Environmental Mutagens: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Children, as a particularly vulnerable group, are more susceptible to these mutagens due to their developing immune systems, higher physiological vulnerability, and increased exposure through behaviors like outdoor play and hand‐to‐mouth activities. This review aims to investigate the relationship between these environmental exposures, genetic

Expression of Glutathione S-transferase-pi (GST-pi)and Metallothionein (MT)in Lung Cancer

open access: yes, 1997
