Diverse Sensory Repertoire of Paralogous Chemoreceptors Tlp2, Tlp3, and Tlp4 in Campylobacter jejuni

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2022
Campylobacter jejuni responds to extracellular stimuli via transducer-like chemoreceptors (Tlps). Here, we describe receptor-ligand interactions of a unique paralogue family of dCache_1 (double Calcium channels and chemotaxis) chemoreceptors: Tlp2, Tlp3,

Quantitative Glycomics Strategies

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Proteomics, 2013
The correlations between protein glycosylation and many biological processes and diseases are increasing the demand for quantitative glycomics strategies enabling sensitive monitoring of changes in the abundance and structure of glycans. This is currently attained through multiple strategies employing several analytical techniques such as capillary ...

Anomeric O-Functionalization of Carbohydrates for Chemical Conjugation to Vaccine Constructs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Carbohydrates mediate a wide range of biological interactions, and understanding these processes benefits the development of new therapeutics. Isolating sufficient quantities of glycoconjugates from biological samples remains a significant challenge ...

Structural and functional glycosphingolipidomics by glycoblotting with aminooxy-functionalized gold nanoparticle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Glycosphingolipids (GSLs) synthesized in Golgi apparatus by sequential transfer of sugar residues to a ceramide lipid anchor are ubiquitously distributing on vertebrate plasma membranes.

Nanoscale Mapping of the Subcellular Glycosylation Landscape

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using multiplexed super‐resolution imaging with fluorophore‐labeled lectins, this study reports intracellular glycosylation at the nanoscale across organelles and synaptic specializations. Extending glycan analysis beyond the cell surface, Glyco‐STORM reveals distinct glycosylation nanodomains in the ER, Golgi, lysosomes, and synaptic sites.

Chemoenzymatic Probes for Detecting and Imaging Fucose-α(1-2)-galactose Glycan Biomarkers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The disaccharide motif fucose-α(1-2)-galactose (Fucα(1-2)Gal) is involved in many important physiological processes, such as learning and memory, inflammation, asthma, and tumorigenesis.

IgG Glycome in Colorectal Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Cancer Research, 2016
Abstract Purpose: Alternative glycosylation has significant structural and functional consequences on IgG and consequently also on cancer immunosurveillance. Because of technological limitations, the effects of highly heritable individual variations and the differences in the dynamics of changes in IgG glycosylation on colorectal ...

GlycoChat Uncovers Glycan–Lectin Circuits in the Tumor Microenvironment of Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Aberrant glycosylation drives cancer progression, yet its role in the tumor microenvironment remains unclear. We developed GlycoChat to map glycan–lectin circuits at single‐cell resolution. We discovered that cancer cells induce immunosuppressive macrophage differentiation and impair phagocytosis through interactions with CLEC10A and SIGLEC3 ...

Contribution of cryptic epitopes in designing a group A streptococcal vaccine

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2018
A successful vaccine needs to target multiple strains of an organism. Streptococcus pyogenes is an organism that utilizes antigenic strain variation as a successful defence mechanism to circumvent the host immune response. Despite numerous efforts, there

Glycointeractome of Neisseria gonorrhoeae: Identification of Host Glycans Targeted by the Gonococcus To Facilitate Adherence to Cervical and Urethral Epithelial Cells

open access: yesmBio, 2019
Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a significant threat to global health for which a vaccine and novel treatment options are urgently needed. Glycans expressed by human cells are commonly targeted by pathogens to facilitate interactions with the host, and thus ...
