Disruption of Smad4 expression in T cells leads to IgA nephropathy-like manifestations. [PDF]
The link between glomerular IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and T helper 2 (Th2) response has been implicated, however, the mechanisms are poorly defined because of the lack of an appropriate model.

We prepared five glycosylated liposomal nanoparticles (G‐LNPs) to investigate the role of glycosylation and protein corona in modulating the in vivo behavior of G‐LNPs. We show that IgG and complement C3 adsorption enhanced liposomal nanoparticle clearance, with IgG promoting subsequent C3 binding.

Thyroxine Binding Properties of Glycosylated Human Serum Albumin as Measured by Fluorescence.
Thyroid hormone, thyroxine (T4) binding to glycosylated human serum albumin (G-HSA), and native human serum albumin (HSA) were studied as a function of pH using the fluorescence method. T4 binding affinity for G-HSA was remarkably reduced in an alkaline pH as compared with the native HSA. The thermodynamic parameters for binding are estimated at pH 7.5:

Rheumatologic Manifestations of Patients With Type B Insulin Resistance
Objective The objectives of this study were to identify laboratory and clinical features associated with type B insulin resistance (TBIR), a rare condition caused by autoantibodies that inhibit the insulin receptor, most frequently occurring in the setting of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and to increase awareness of this rare, life‐threatening ...

A modular strategy was developed to synthesize tri‐, hexa‐, and nona‐saccharides representing repeating units of the conserved O‐polysaccharide backbone of Salmonella. Conjugates of these glycans to bacteriophage Qβ induced strong IgG responses in mice and rabbits. Antibodies elicited recognized native O‐polysaccharides and conferred protection against

The Glycated Albumin to Glycated Hemoglobin Ratio Might Not Be Associated with Carotid Atherosclerosis in Patients with Type 1 Diabetes [PDF]
BackgroundThe ratio of glycated albumin to glycated hemoglobin (GA/A1c) is known to be elevated in subjects with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) who had decreased insulin secretion.

Long-term glycemic variability and risk of adverse outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: Glycemic variability is emerging as a measure of glycemic control, which may be a reliable predictor of complications. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates the association between HbA1c variability and micro- and macrovascular ...
