Guanine-vacancy–bearing G-quadruplexes responsive to guanine derivatives [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2015
Significance Guanine-rich nucleic acids fold into a four-stranded structure named G-quadruplex that has implications in essential cellular processes, pharmaceutical applications, and nanodevices. We found a unique type of G-quadruplex that contains a G-vacancy and is stabilized by guanine derivatives such as te physiological concentration of ...

Detection of Guanine and Adenine Using an Aminated Reduced Graphene Oxide Functional Membrane-Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode

open access: yesSensors, 2017
A new electrochemical sensor based on a Nafion, aminated reduced graphene oxide and chitosan functional membrane-modified glassy carbon electrode was proposed for the simultaneous detection of adenine and guanine. Fourier transform-infrared spectrometry (

Calculating Hyperfine Couplings in Large Ionic Crystals Containing Hundreds of QM Atoms: Subsystem DFT is the Key [PDF]

open access: yesv. 117, p.ASAP, y. 2013, Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2013
We present an application of the linear scaling Frozen Density Embedding (FDE) formulation of subsystem DFT to the calculation of isotropic hyperfine coupling constants (hfccs) of atoms belonging to a guanine radical cation embedded in a guanine hydrochloride monohydrate crystal.

Probing the microscopic structure and flexibility of oxidized DNA by molecular simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The oxidative damage of DNA is a compelling issue in molecular biophysics as it plays a vital role in the epigenetic control of gene expression and is believed to be associated with mutagenesis, carcinogenesis, and ageing. To understand the microscopic structural changes in physical properties of DNA and the resulting influence on its function due to ...

G-quartet biomolecular nanowires [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters 80, 3331 (2002), 2002
We present a first-principle investigation of quadruple helix nanowires, consisting of stacked planar hydrogen-bonded guanine tetramers. Our results show that long wires form and are stable in potassium-rich conditions. We present their electronic bandstructure and discuss the interpretation in terms of effective wide-bandgap semiconductors.

Flipping Back of Extrahelical Guanine after Methyl Repair

open access: yesBibechana, 2022
Methylation at O6 atom of guanine is a type of DNA damage which can cause a cancer. This damage at O6 atom of guanine in a DNA can be transferred to SG atom of cysteine in O6-alkylguanine-DNA alkyltransferase (AGT).

Electrochemical and theoretical evaluation of the interaction between dna and amodiaquine: evidence of the guanine adduct formation

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2010
The electrochemical behavior of the interaction of amodiaquine with DNA on a carbon paste electrode was studied using voltametric techniques. In an acid medium, an electroactive adduct is formed when amodiaquine interacts with DNA.

Silica nanochannels boosting Ru(bpy)32+-mediated electrochemical sensor for the detection of guanine in beer and pharmaceutical samples

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2022
Vertically ordered mesoporous silica film (VMSF) with uniform mesoporous channels perpendicular to electrode substrate has a wide range of applications in direct electroanalysis of complex samples.

Crystal structure of the nucleoside 2′-deoxyguanosine dimethyl sulfoxide disolvate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2023
The title compound, C10H13N5O4·2C2H6OS, which is of interest with respect to its biological activity, at 183 K has orthorhombic (P212121) crystal symmetry. The structure displays a network of intermolecular N—H...N, N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds. 2′-
