Electronic signature of DNA nucleotides via transverse transport [PDF]
We report theoretical studies of charge transport in single-stranded DNA in the direction perpendicular to the backbone axis. We find that, if the electrodes which sandwich the DNA have the appropriate spatial width, each nucleotide carries a unique signature due to the different electronic and chemical structure of the four bases.

Long range correlations in DNA : scaling properties and charge transfer efficiency [PDF]
We address the relation between long range correlations and charge transfer efficiency in aperiodic artificial or genomic DNA sequences. Coherent charge transfer through the HOMO states of the guanine nucleotide is studied using the transmission approach, and focus is made on how the sequence-dependent backscattering profile can be inferred from ...

First-principles study of high conductance DNA sequencing with carbon nanotube electrodes [PDF]
Rapid and cost-effective DNA sequencing at the single nucleotide level might be achieved by measuring a transverse electronic current as single-stranded DNA is pulled through a nano-sized pore. In order to enhance the electronic coupling between the nucleotides and the electrodes and hence the current signals, we employ a pair of single-walled close ...

LRRK2 kinase activity is dependent on LRRK2 GTP binding capacity but independent of LRRK2 GTP binding. [PDF]
Leucine rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) is a Parkinson's disease (PD) gene that encodes a large multidomain protein including both a GTPase and a kinase domain.

Synthesis and Effect of Conformationally Locked Carbocyclic Guanine Nucleotides on Dynamin
Guanine nucleotides can flip between a North and South conformation in the ribose moiety. To test the enzymatic activity of GTPases bound to nucleotides in the two conformations, we generated methanocarba guanine nucleotides in the North or South ...

The role of the GMP nucleotides of the bis-molybdopterin guanine dinucleotide (bis-MGD) cofactor of the DMSO reductase family has long been a subject of discussion. The recent characterization of the bis-molybdopterin (bis-Mo-MPT) cofactor present in the

Guanine nucleotides and acute renal failure [PDF]
Sustained ischemic and nephrotoxic acute renal failure (ARF) are characterized by overt damage to renal tubules, including cell necrosis. As a result, these processes have frequently been termed acute tubular necrosis, but this description has long been known to be misleading, as much of the tubule damage is sublethal, and the extent of necrotic cell ...

Towards inferring nanopore sequencing ionic currents from nucleotide chemical structures
Nanopore sequencing allows users to identify nucleotide sequence from ionic currents. Here, the authors use deep learning to facilitate the de novo identification of modified nucleotides, particularly methylated cytosine and guanine, from the measured ...

The giant mottled eel is a species with high commercial value so overfishing, river management, and water pollution have negatively affected its movement and population numbers. Anguilla marmorata (eel) was listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book 2007 with a

Binding Group of Oligonucleotides on TiO 2 Surfaces: Phosphate Anions or Nucleobases? [PDF]
Although the immobilization of oligonucleotides (nucleic acid) on mineral surfaces is at the basis of different biotechnological applications, an atomistic understanding of the interaction of the nucleic acid components with the titanium dioxide surfaces has not yet been achieved.
