Distribution of GyrA intein in non-tuberculous mycobacteria and genomic heterogeneity of Mycobacterium gastri [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
To gain further insights into the understanding of the intein invasion process in mycobacteria, intein sequences in the gyrA gene of 42 mycobacterial strains were searched and a new gyrA intein was found in Mycobacterium gastri (Mga). This 1260 bp intein,

Fluoroquinolone Resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mutations in gyrA and gyrB [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 2009
ABSTRACT This study evaluated cross-resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains to ofloxacin, moxifloxacin, and gatifloxacin and investigated the presence of mutations in gyrA and gyrB . Fluoroquinolone susceptibilities were determined for 41

Probiotic‐Derived Vesicles Rectally Delivered via Thermo‐Gelling Copolymer Promote Mucosal Healing and Reduce Inflammation in Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 56, 9 October 2026.
A thermo‐responsive rectal delivery platform integrating probiotic‐derived extracellular vesicles within a hyaluronic acid‐based copolymer enables localized and sustained therapy for ulcerative colitis. The formulation effectively suppresses inflammation, promotes macrophage polarization toward a regenerative phenotype, restores epithelial barrier ...

Characterization of gyrA and gyrB mutations and fluoroquinolone resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical isolates from Hubei Province, China

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases
OBJECTIVE: The study aimed to investigate gyrA and gyrB mutations in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) clinical strains from 93 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in Hubei Province, China, and analyze the association between mutation patterns of the ...

Molecular Diagnostics for WHO Priority Bacterial Pathogens: A Bibliometric Mapping of Diagnostic Platforms, Resistance Markers, and Antimicrobial Resistance Research Trends

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
This bibliometric mapping of 1746 publications (2000–2025) charts molecular diagnostics for WHO priority bacterial pathogens across platforms, targets, and resistance markers. Conventional PCR/NAAT and whole‐genome sequencing emerge as complementary core platforms, and the field evolves from targeted pathogen detection into an AMR‐centered ...

Genomic Detection of Multidrug‐Resistant H58 ST1 Salmonella Typhi in a South African Urban Waterway Reveals Epidemiological Links With Clinical Isolates

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
Genomic analysis of four S. Typhi from a South African urban river uncovered two multidrug‐resistant H58 strains carrying qacEΔ1, revealing strong phylogenetic links to clinical isolates and underscoring urban rivers as potential transmission pathways. ABSTRACT Typhoid fever remains a major public health concern in South Africa.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA gyrase possesses two functional GyrA-boxes.

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceIn contrast with most bacteria which possess two type II topoisomerases (topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase), Mycobacterium tuberculosis possesses only one, DNA gyrase, which is functionally a hybrid enzyme.

Detection of fluoroquinolone resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical isolates as determined by gyrA/B gene mutation by using PCR technique

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Chest Disease and Tuberculosis, 2012
Fluoroquinolones are broad-spectrum antimicrobial agents that have been used with increasing frequency over the past decade. Fluoroquinolones have in vitro and in vivo activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Iran's Escherichia coli AMR Landscape (2010–2025): A One Health Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
This One Health systematic review and meta‐analysis of 368 studies (2010–2025) reveals that 47.2% of E. coli isolates in Iran are ESBL‐producers, with alarming resistance to penicillins, cephalosporins, and fluoroquinolones. Critically, resistance to last‐resort antibiotics—colistin and ertapenem—is significantly increasing over time.

Isolation profile of gyrA allele in Kolkata.

open access: yes, 2014
Occurrence of gyrA allele type in Kolkata Vibrio cholerae O1 strains from 1989 to 2012. A total of 287strains were tested during the study period. V. cholerae O1 strains with variant gyrA was isolated in Kolkata for the first time in the year 1994.
