Effects of a Mutation in the gyrA Gene on the Virulence of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli [PDF]
ABSTRACT Fluoroquinolones are among the drugs most extensively used for the treatment of bacterial infections in human and veterinary medicine. Resistance to quinolones can be chromosome or plasmid mediated. The chromosomal mechanism of resistance is associated with mutations in the DNA gyrase- and topoisomerase IV-encoding genes

ABSTRACT Livestock manure is a valuable agricultural resource but may introduce antibiotic residues and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) into the environment. This review critically evaluates the fate of antibiotics and ARGs during manure composting and identifies the principal factors controlling their attenuation.

Advancing Therapies for Mycobacterial Diseases: From Small Molecules to Host‐Directed Strategies
ABSTRACT The global burden of multidrug‐resistant tuberculosis (MDR‐TB) and the rising incidence of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections highlight the urgent need for innovative therapeutic strategies. Current treatments are prolonged, toxic, and increasingly compromised by resistance and limited diagnostic capacity.

Investigating the Roles of the C-Terminal Domain of Plasmodium falciparum GyrA
Malaria remains as one of the most deadly diseases in developing countries. The Plasmodium causative agents of human malaria such as Plasmodium falciparum possess an organelle, the apicoplast, which is the result of secondary endosymbiosis and retains its own circular DNA. A type II topoisomerase, DNA gyrase, is present in the apicoplast.

ABSTRACT Monitoring antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in fish pathogens is essential for supporting sustainable aquaculture. In this study, susceptibility testing and genome sequencing were used to characterize the AMR profile of seven Flavobacterium psychrophilum originating from Danish rainbow trout farms (2019–2022).
