Jaw‐specific stem cell dynamics are associated with distinct enamel architecture in mouse incisors

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The continuously growing mouse incisor serves as a model for stem cell‐driven tooth renewal. Although mice possess maxillary and mandibular incisors, most studies have focused on the mandible. Potential differences in structure and renewal between these serially homologous organs remain insufficiently characterized.

Hedgehog signaling reprograms hair follicle niche fibroblasts to a hyper-activated state

open access: yes, 2022
Hair follicle stem cells are regulated by dermal papilla fibroblasts, their principal signaling niche. Overactivation of Hedgehog signaling in the niche dramatically accelerates hair growth and induces follicle multiplication in mice.

Under‐Explored Species, Breeds and Cell Types With Potential for Cultivated Meat Production

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract illustrates how the strategic selection of overlooked cell lines from novel species and specific agricultural breeds can help overcome current manufacturing bottlenecks in cultivated meat production. The schematic links the concept of an ‘ideal cell line’ to four key bioprocessing and product advantages that can be optimised ...

Androgenetic alopecia: new insights into the pathogenesis and mechanism of hair loss [v1; ref status: indexed, http://f1000r.es/5ar]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2015
The hair follicle is a complete mini-organ that lends itself as a model for investigation of a variety of complex biological phenomena, including stem cell biology, organ regeneration and cloning.

Somatic cell reprogramming for Parkinson's disease treatment

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 59-73, Spring 2025.
The fundamental purpose of cell reprogramming to treat Parkinson's disease is to generate dopaminergic neurons (DAN) and do transplantation. There are two ways to accomplish this. One method is to induce cells into induced DA neurons (iDAN) directly or to induce cells into induced pluripotent stem cells and ultimately into iDAN in vitro. Another option

Lgr6 marks stem cells in the hair follicle that generate all cell lineages of the skin

open access: yes, 2010
Mammalian epidermis consists of three self-renewing compartments: the hair follicle, the sebaceous gland, and the interfollicular epidermis. We generated knock-in alleles of murine Lgr6, a close relative of the Lgr5 stem cell gene.

Human biomarker navigator

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
The Human Biomarker Navigator integrates the disease continuum, biomarker dynamics, cross‐organ biomarker networks, biomarker classification, and technology‐driven paradigms. It maps how biomarkers link multi‐system physiology and pathology across the nervous, respiratory, endocrine, circulatory, immune, digestive, urinary, reproductive, and ...

Mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes promote scalp rejuvenation through type XVII collagen regulation via the miR-21-5p/DKK2/Wnt pathway

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
BackgroundHair follicle aging is driven by COL17A1 proteolysis in hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs). Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes show promise in tissue regeneration, but their effects on COL17A1 and hair follicle aging remain unexplored ...

Gymnema sylvestre: Bioactive constituents, health benefits, and emerging applications in nutraceuticals and functional foods

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Gymnema sylvestre (Retz.) R.Br. ex‐Schult., commonly known as “gurmar” or “sugar destroyer,” belongs to the Apocynaceae family and is traditionally used in Ayurveda for diabetes management. This review synthesizes ethnomedicinal evidence with contemporary pharmacological studies, to evaluate the therapeutic properties and mechanistic actions ...
