Short Inter‐Treatment Interval Treatment With Artificial Liver Support System Reduces 90‐Day Transplant‐Free Mortality in Patients With Hepatitis B Virus–Related Acute‐On‐Chronic Liver Failure: A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
ALSS short inter‐treatment interval treatment (patients received two ALSS treatments within 48 h) correlates with improved liver function and 90‐day transplant‐free survival of HBV‐ACLF. This result provides a certain theoretical basis for the timing and time interval of ALSS for HBV‐ACLF, enriches the models and contents of ALSS treatment for HBV‐ACLF,

Temporal Association Between COVID‐19 Vaccination and HBsAg Loss in Chronic Hepatitis B Infection: An Interrupted Time Series Analysis

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
In 59,946 chronic hepatitis B patients followed over 23 years, COVID‐19 vaccination rollout was temporally associated with a 56% increase in HBsAg loss rates (peak 1.27 per 100 person‐years in 2022), followed by gradual waning. Negative control outcomes showed no similar pattern, supporting biological specificity. ABSTRACT Background and Aims Hepatitis

"IL28B polymorphism in chronic HBV infection: the CC allele does not correlate with the phase of the infection nor with HBsAg clearance in IFN treated patients".

open access: yes, 2012
IL28B polymorphism (IL28Bp) is associated with spontaneous and treatment induced HCV clearance, whereas its role in HBV infection is still debated. We analysed the correlation between IL28Bp and phase and outcome of HBV infection and HBsAg clearance in ...

Incidence of Hepatitis B Virus Reactivation in Patients Treated With Immunosuppressive and Chemotherapeutic Agents

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
HBV reactivation incidence varied across immunosuppressive and chemotherapeutic agents. Clinically meaningful HBV reactivation was also observed in patients receiving corticosteroids and conventional immunosuppressive therapies. ABSTRACT Background Data on the incidence of hepatitis B virus reactivation (HBVr) remain limited. In Japan, patients who are

Hyperendemicity and genotype diversity of hepatitis B virus among patients attending the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Nigeria

open access: yesGMS Hygiene and Infection Control
Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains a significant global public health issue, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, due to inadequate healthcare and research into its genetic epidemiology. This study aims to determine the frequency of HBV

MiR‐375 in CAFs‐Derived EVs Promotes HCC Progression via Regulating RASA1 and May Potentially Serve as a Biomarker for HCC

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
CAFs could transfer EVs miR‐375 into endothelial cells with a low level of RASA1 and further promote EC angiogenesis. Plasma EVs miR‐375 have the potential values as a novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for HCC. ABSTRACT Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in the tumor microenvironment play an important role in cancer initiation and progression

Novel HBsAg markers tightly correlate with occult HBV infection and strongly affect HBsAg detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Occult HBV infection (OBI) is a threat for the safety of blood-supply, and has been associated with the onset of HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma and lymphomagenesis. Nevertheless, genetic markers in HBsAg (particularly in D-genotype, the most common

Italian Patients Journey for Gene Therapy in Haemophilia A

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Gene therapy (GT) provides sustained FVIII levels without repeated infusions in Hemophilia A (HA) patients thus overcoming a major limitation of replacement therapy. However, issues remain e.g., patient selection criteria, duration and variability of transgene expression, quality of life and long‐term safety.
