ABSTRACT Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) may initially manifest as undifferentiated connective tissue disease (UCTD) in the absence of recurrent infections or hypogammaglobulinemia. In patients presenting with warning signs, neither older age nor normal immunoglobulin levels should preclude consideration of CVID; early genetic testing is ...

Sustained activation of NF-κB is one of the causative factors for various liver diseases, including liver inflammation and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It has been known that activating the NF-κB signal by hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) is implicated in the development of HCC. However, despite numerous studies on HBx-induced NF-κB activation, the

Paracrine in vivo inhibitory effects of hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) on liver cell proliferation: an alternative mechanism of HBx-related pathogenesis [PDF]
The role of the hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) in the pathogenesis of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection remains unclear. HBx exhibits pleiotropic biological effects, whose in vivo relevance is a matter for debate. In the present report, we have used a

Identifying and Characterizing Interplay between Hepatitis B Virus X Protein and Smc5/6
Hepatitis B X protein (HBx) plays an essential role in the hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication cycle, but the function of HBx has been elusive until recently.

HBx integration in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma inhibits Caspase-3-PARP related apoptosis
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common pathological type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and is closely associated with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection status and hepatitis B X (HBx) gene integration.

Hepatitis B virus X protein drives multiple cross-talk cascade loops involving NF-κB, 5-LOX, OPN and Capn4 to promote cell migration. [PDF]
Hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) plays an important role in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the mechanism remains unclear.

ABSTRACT Background Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains one of the leading causes of cancer‐related deaths in Malaysia. Early detection increases the likelihood of curative treatment and improves survival. This consensus document aims to provide evidence‐based, locally relevant recommendations for the prevention and early detection of HCC.

Direct interaction of the hepatitis B virus HBx protein with p53 leads to inhibition by HBx of p53 response element-directed transactivation [PDF]
Hepatitis B virus is a major risk factor in human hepatocellular carcinomas. We have used protein affinity chromatography to show that the 17-kDa hepatitis B virus gene product, HBx, binds directly to the human tumor suppressor gene product, p53. Interaction of HBx with p53 did not prevent p53 from specifically binding DNA.

HBx and c-MYC Cooperate to Induce URI1 Expression in HBV-Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma [PDF]
Unconventional prefoldin RNA polymerase II subunit 5 interactor (URI1) has emerged as an oncogenic driver in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Although the hepatitis B virus (HBV) represents the most common etiology of HCC worldwide, it is unknown whether ...

ABSTRACT The role of microbes in cancer is gaining attention these days, especially in the context of tumor‐associated biofilms and dysbiotic microbiota. Biofilm‐producing microorganisms, such as Fusobacterium nucleatum and Helicobacter pylori, trigger oncogenic inflammation and immune evasion in tumor initiation and progression, and in the development
