HBX-6, Standardized Cornus officinalis and Psoralea corylifolia L. Extracts, Suppresses Benign Prostate Hyperplasia by Attenuating E2F1 Activation

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Background: The aim of this study was to simplify and identify the contents of the herbal formula, HBX-5. This study was carried out to evaluate the therapeutic effects of HBX-6 in a mouse model of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Impact of Electronic Substitution and Planarization on the Photophysical Properties of 2‐(2′‐Hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole or 2‐(2′‐Hydroxyphenyl)‐Dimethylindole

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 28, 25 July 2026.
We report the synthesis, structural characterization, and photophysical investigation of a series of Excited‐State Intramolecular Proton Transfer‐active HBO and HDMI derivatives. By varying heterocyclic cores, substituents, and ethynyl planarization, we establish structure–property relationships governing fluorescence behavior.

The HBx protein expression in liver cancer

open access: yesChinese Journal of Cancer Research, 1993
The expression of HBx protein in liver tissues from 48 cases of different liver diseases, including 32 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 10 of chronic hepatitis (CH), 2 of angioma and 4 cases of normal liver was studied. These samples were tested for HBx protein, HBsAg by modified ABC method.

C/EBPα enhances HBx-induced SOCS3 expression.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) Schematic representation of the transcriptional response elements on the murine SOCS3 promoter, showing a distal SRE (−95 to −87), a proximal SRE (−71 to −64), an AP1 element (−105 to −99), a FoxO motif (−103 to 95), a GC-rich region (−58 to −52 ...

Marine Phytoplankton Extremes and Compound Extreme Events Have the Potential to Be Predicted Multiple Months in Advance

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract Global marine primary producers, phytoplankton, are the base of the marine food web and vary on short timescales, characterized by seasonal blooms. There is growing concern about the occurrence of short‐term extreme events in phytoplankton abundance, which may impact higher trophic levels and economically‐important species.

Interferon-α sensitizes HBx-expressing hepatocarcinoma cells to chemotherapeutic drugs through inhibition of HBx-mediated NF-κB activation [PDF]

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2013
Abstract Background Hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is characterized by high chemotherapy resistance; however, the underlying mechanism has not been fully clarified. In addition, HBx protein has been reported to play a key role in virus-mediated hepatocarcinogenesis.

Hepatitis B virus X protein impairs hepatic insulin signaling through degradation of IRS1 and induction of SOCS3. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a major cause of chronic liver diseases, and frequently results in hepatitis, cirrhosis, and ultimately hepatocellular carcinoma. The role of HCV in associations with insulin signaling has been elucidated.
