Background and Objectives: The viral transactivator HBx protein affect cellular, viral and pregenomic factors pathway. Mutations in this protein can produce new viruses with new antigenic determinants that are generally related to developing cancerous ...

RPS3a over-expressed in HBV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma enhances the HBx-induced NF-κB signaling via its novel chaperoning function. [PDF]
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is one of the major causes of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development. Hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) is known to play a key role in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Several cellular proteins have

HBx, a multifunctional regulatory protein, plays an essential role in the replication and pathogenesis of the hepatitis B virus (HBV). In this study, we found that in human hepatoma cells, the tumor suppressor p53 downregulates HBx via ubiquitin ...

Cell cycle deregulation by the HBx protein of hepatitis B virus
Cell cycle control by oncogenic viruses usually involves disruption of the normal restraints on cellular proliferation via abnormal proteolytic degradation and malignant transformation of cells. The cell cycle regulatory molecules viz.

The hepatitis B virus X protein activates nuclear factor of activated T cells (NF-AT) by a cyclosporin A-sensitive pathway. [PDF]
The X gene product of the human hepatitis B virus (HBx) is a transcriptional activator of various viral and cellular genes. We recently have determined that the production of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) by HBV-infected hepatocytes is ...

Hepatitis B Virus Protein X Induces Degradation of Talin-1
In the infected human hepatocyte, expression of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) accessory protein X (HBx) is essential to maintain viral replication in vivo.

Direct interaction of the hepatitis B virus HBx protein with p53 leads to inhibition by HBx of p53 response element-directed transactivation [PDF]
Hepatitis B virus is a major risk factor in human hepatocellular carcinomas. We have used protein affinity chromatography to show that the 17-kDa hepatitis B virus gene product, HBx, binds directly to the human tumor suppressor gene product, p53. Interaction of HBx with p53 did not prevent p53 from specifically binding DNA.

HBx promotes liver tumor in mice by inhibiting microRNA-145a-5p
Objective To investigate the changes of miRNA-145a-5p in liver progenitor cells and mice infected with hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) at different time points to preliminarily explore the mechanism of HBx causing liver tumor.

The HBx protein expression in liver cancer
The expression of HBx protein in liver tissues from 48 cases of different liver diseases, including 32 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 10 of chronic hepatitis (CH), 2 of angioma and 4 cases of normal liver was studied. These samples were tested for HBx protein, HBsAg by modified ABC method.

Hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx) is a multifunctional protein that interacts directly with many host proteins. For example, HBx interacts with anti-apoptotic proteins, Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL, through its BH3-like motif, which leads to elevated cytosolic ...
