HDAC3 mediates smoking-induced pancreatic cancer

open access: yesOncotarget, 2016
Smoking is a major risk factor for developing pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC); however, little is known about the mechanisms involved. Here we employed a genetic animal model of early stages of PDAC that overexpresses oncogenic Kras in the pancreas to investigate the mechanisms of smoking-induced promotion of the disease in vivo.

HDAC3 Is a Master Regulator of mTEC Development [PDF]

open access: yesCell Reports, 2016
The thymus provides a unique microenvironment enabling development and selection of T lymphocytes. Medullary thymic epithelial cells (mTECs) play a pivotal role in this process by facilitating negative selection of self-reactive thymocytes and the generation of Foxp3(+) regulatory T cells.

Hdac3 deletion in myeloid progenitor cells enhances bone healing in females and limits osteoclast fusion via Pmepa1

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Previous studies examining the role of the histone deacetylase Hdac3 within myeloid cells demonstrated that Hdac3 promotes M2 activation and tissue healing in inflammatory conditions. Since myeloid lineage cells are required for proper bone formation and

The coactivator role of histone deacetylase 3 in IL-1-signaling involves deacetylation of p65 NF-kappaB [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Histone deacetylase (HDAC) 3, as a cofactor in co-repressor complexes containing silencing mediator for retinoid or thyroid-hormone receptors (SMRT) and nuclear receptor co-repressor (N-CoR), has been shown to repress gene transcription in a variety of ...

Nrf2 deficiency influences susceptibility to steroid resistance via HDAC2 reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Abnormal lung inflammation and oxidant burden are associated with a significant reduction in histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2) abundance and steroid resistance.

The critical roles of histone deacetylase 3 in the pathogenesis of solid organ injury

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2021
Histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) plays a crucial role in chromatin remodeling, which, in turn, regulates gene transcription. Hence, HDAC3 has been implicated in various diseases, including ischemic injury, fibrosis, neurodegeneration, infections, and ...

Histone deacetylase 3 associates with MeCP2 to regulate FOXO and social behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Mutations in MECP2 cause the neurodevelopmental disorder Rett syndrome (RTT). The RTT missense MECP2 R306C mutation prevents MeCP2 from interacting with the NCoR/histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) complex; however, the neuronal function of HDAC3 is ...

The dual role of LSD1 and HDAC3 in STAT5-dependent transcription is determined by protein interactions, binding affinities, motifs and genomic positions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
STAT5 interacts with other factors to control transcription, and the mechanism of regulation is of interest as constitutive active STAT5 has been reported in malignancies. Here, LSD1 and HDAC3 were identified as novel STAT5a interacting partners in pro-B

The Hyaluronic Acid–HDAC3–miRNA Network in Allergic Inflammation [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2015
We previously reported the anti-allergic effect of high molecular weight form of hyaluronic acid (HMW-HA). In doing so, HA targets CD44 and inhibits FcεRI signaling and cross-talk between epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and FcεRI. We previously reported the role of histone deacetylases (HDACs) in allergic inflammation and allergic inflammation ...
