The role of Hedgehog acyltransferase in Sonic hedgehog signalling [PDF]
Protein acyltransferases (PATs), a group of enzymes catalysing fatty acylation of a variety of proteins, play an important role in protein sorting and signalling in the cell. In the Hedgehog (Hh) signalling pathway the PAT Hedgehog acyltransferase (Hhat) is responsible for addition of a palmitic acid to the N-terminal cysteine of Hh proteins.

The role of glypicans in Hedgehog signaling
Glypicans (GPCs) are a family of proteoglycans that are bound to the cell surface by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor. Six glypicans have been found in the mammalian genome (GPC1 to GPC6). GPCs regulate several signaling pathways, including the pathway triggered by Hedgehogs (Hhs).

Attenuation of hedgehog/GLI signaling by NT1721 extends survival in pancreatic cancer. [PDF]
BackgroundPancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal malignancies due to frequent late diagnosis, aggressive tumor growth and metastasis formation.

The Sonic Hedgehog Pathway Stimulates Prostate Tumor Growth by Paracrine Signaling and Recaptures Embryonic Gene Expression in Tumor Myofibroblasts [PDF]
The Hedgehog (Hh) pathway contributes to prostate cancer growth and progression. The presence of robust Shh expression in both normal prostate and localized cancer challenged us to explain the unique growth promoting effect in cancer.

Hedgehog signaling in pancreas development
Hedgehog proteins are secreted molecules that bind to their cell surface receptors to elicit concentration dependent responses essential for numerous tissue patterning and cell differentiation events during embryogenesis. However, during early stages of pancreas organogenesis, hedgehog signaling has been shown to inhibit tissue morphogenesis and cell ...

Dual and opposing roles of primary cilia in medulloblastoma development. [PDF]
Recent work has shown that primary cilia are essential for Hedgehog (Hh) signaling during mammalian development. It is also known that aberrant Hh signaling can lead to cancer, but the role of primary cilia in oncogenesis is not known. Cerebellar granule

Semaphorin Receptor Function in Hedgehog Signal Transduction [PDF]
Hedgehog signaling is a conserved cell-cell communication pathway that plays essential and diverse roles during embryonic development and adult tissue homeostasis. Many cell surface-associated molecules critically regulate the Hedgehog signaling pathway,
