An All-Recombinant Protein-Based Culture System Specifically Identifies Hematopoietic Stem Cell Maintenance Factors

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2017
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are considered one of the most promising therapeutic targets for the treatment of various blood disorders. However, due to difficulties in establishing stable maintenance and expansion of HSCs in vitro, their insufficient ...

Plasma Hemopexin Activity in Pregnancy and Preeclampsia

open access: yesHypertension in Pregnancy, 2007
Plasma hemopexin activity, associated with increased vascular permeability, was evaluated in healthy pregnant and non-pregnant women and in pre-eclamptic women.Hemopexin activity and the hemopexin inhibitor, extracellular ATP, were assayed in plasma from pregnant (n = 10), preeclamptic (n = 9), and non-pregnant women (n = 10) using standard methods ...

Salivary Proteomic Signatures in Pregnant Women With Excessive Gingival Bleeding

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This observational, cross‐sectional, and analytical study aimed to explore the pathophysiological mechanisms of gingivitis in pregnancy by analyzing the salivary proteomic profile according to gingival bleeding status. Materials and Methods Pregnant women at the 27th week of gestation or beyond were categorized into two groups: those

Porphyromonas gingivalis GroEL accelerates abdominal aortic aneurysm formation by matrix metalloproteinase‐2 SUMOylation in vascular smooth muscle cells: A novel finding for the activation of MMP‐2

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Infection is a known cause of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), and matrix metalloproteases‐2 (MMP‐2) secreted by vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) plays a key role in the structural disruption of the middle layer of the arteries during AAA progression.

Isolation of feline plasma hemopexin.

open access: yesThe Japanese Journal of Veterinary Science, 1984
Feline hemopexin (Hx) was isolated from serum with the procedure on the modification of Vretblad et al.. Purified Hx had 71, 000 and 74, 000 dalton at 4-30% PAGE, and the solution immunized to rabbit foot pad. After 3 weeks, only one precipitate was observed between feline plasma and antiserum with IEP and Ouchtalony method.

Intranasal Human NSC‐Derived EVs Therapy Can Restrain Inflammatory Microglial Transcriptome, and NLRP3 and cGAS‐STING Signalling, in Aged Hippocampus

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Neuroinflammaging, a moderate, chronic, and sterile inflammation in the hippocampus, contributes to age‐related cognitive decline. Neuroinflammaging comprises the activation of the nucleotide‐binding domain, leucine‐rich repeat family, and pyrin domain‐containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasomes, and the cyclic GMP‐AMP synthase (cGAS)‐stimulator of ...

Interaction of rabbit hemopexin with rose bengal and photooxidation of the rose bengal-hemopexin complex

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1975
Rabbit hemopexin associates with rose bengal producing a hypochromic shift in the absorption spectrum of the dye; the extinction coefficient of the dye bound to heme-saturated hemopexin is approximately 20% lower than that of the dye bound to the apoprotein.

Receptor‐Dependent and ‐Independent Effects of Hemin on Platelet Plasma Membrane Disintegration

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 2, 31 January 2026.
Microhemorrhages lead to the release of erythrocytes, which are then degraded and lysed. These hemolyses result in the liberation of free iron‐containing hemin. Hemin induces platelet activation and ferroptosis. Inhibition of GPVI/CLEC‐2 receptor‐mediated ITAM‐signaling inhibits hemin‐induced platelet activation (low hemin concentrations). Deferoxamine,

Interleukin-4, hemopexin, and lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 are significantly increased in patients with unstable carotid plaque

open access: yesOpen Chemistry, 2019
This study aimed to compare the plasma levels of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2), hemopexin (Hpx), and interleukin-4 (IL-4) in patients with carotid artery atherosclerosis based on neurological symptoms and plaque histopathology and to ...

Characterization and Comparison of Milk Fat Globule Membrane Proteins, Whey Protein Concentrate, and Micellar Casein Concentrate

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study compared milk fat globule membrane protein (MFGMP) with whey protein concentrate (WPC) and micellar casein concentrate (MCC). The results revealed MFGMP's superior structural stability and amino acid profile, identified its unique proteomic landscape through label‐free quantification, and demonstrated its enhanced in vitro digestibility ...
