First Mediterranean record and north‐eastern range extension of the African seahorse Hippocampus algiricus

Abstract The African seahorse Hippocampus algiricus has been considered restricted to the eastern Atlantic coast of Africa, with occasional records in Macaronesian archipelagos. The species is currently classified as Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Postcranial anatomy of the Miocene hippopotamoids of Toros‐Menalla, Chad

We establish a framework for the identification of postcranial remains in hippopotamoids by describing and comparing for the first time two late Miocene hippopotamoids from Toros‐Menalla, Chad (Hexaprotodon garyam, an early hippopotamid, and Libycosaurus bahri, the last African anthracothere) with the common hippopotamus.
