Exercise affects systemic basophil responses in humans: Applying an automated and modified basophil activation test (mBAT) in a field study

open access: yesCytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, Volume 110, Issue 2, Page 92-101, March 2026.
Abstract Basophils are effector cells in type I hypersensitivity reactions. Upon cross‐linking of surface‐bound (allergen‐specific) IgE, basophils release a variety of mediators. Determining the activation of basophils ex vivo with anti‐IgE (a basophil activation test or BAT) can be achieved using flow cytometry.

The role of exogenous histamine in atopic dermatitis flare-ups

open access: yesAlergologia Polska
Atopic dermatitis (AD) remains a significant challenge due to its chronic and relapsing nature, with various triggers exacerbating symptoms. While endogenous histamine’s role in AD is well documented, the impact of exogenous histamine remains ...

Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) for Evaluating Regulatory Compliance of Drug Information and Clinical Trial Protocols

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The purpose was to evaluate retrieval‐augmented generative (RAG) artificial intelligence (AI) methods for assessing the regulatory compliance of drug information and adherence to best practices in clinical trial protocols. Integrated systems containing RAG and large language model (LLM) components were employed to evaluate drug information and

Histamine and Thyroid Hormone Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Briefly, it will be postulated that a major function of thyroid hormone is for slowly developing adaptations of the circulatory system to environmental changes, and that many thyroid hormone effects are secondary to altered perfusion of tissues. There is

Food allergy in irritable bowel syndrome: the case of non-celiac wheat sensitivity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders, having a prevalence of 12%-30% in the general population. Most patients with IBS attribute their symptoms to adverse food reactions.

Recommendations for Stress Ulcer Prophylaxis in Critically Ill Adults: A Contextualized Clinical Practice Guideline From the Saudi Critical Care Society and the Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Endorsed by the Kuwait Anesthesia and Critical Care Society

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 70, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Critically ill adults are at risk for stress‐related upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). Regional variations in gastrointestinal bleeding incidence, infection epidemiology, formulary access, and the relative value placed on bleeding versus infection outcomes by patients and clinicians necessitate contextualized recommendations ...

Secretion of Peanut Protein With IgE Crosslinking Capacity in Human Milk

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 3, Page 861-873, March 2026.
Food proteins from peanut, egg, and cow's milk were detected in human milk with variable kinetics. Ara h 2 in human milk was capable of IgE‐crosslinking, as demonstrated with the basophil activation test. Higher levels of peanut protein, Ara h 2, were found in atopic mothers compared to non‐atopic mothers.

Genotype moderates the impact of food additives on hyperactive behavior in children

open access: yes, 2007
Introduction: The claim of a relationship between artificial food color and additive (AFCs) intake and behavior is highly contentious. We have shown in a previous population-based trial with 3yo children adverse effects of food additives on parentally ...
