CHOP-mediated IL-23 overexpression does not drive colitis in experimental spondyloarthritis

open access: yesScientific Reports
HLA-B27 is a major risk factor for spondyloarthritis (SpA), yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. HLA-B27 misfolding-induced IL-23, which is mediated by endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress has been hypothesized to drive SpA pathogenesis. Expression

Hematological Inflammation Indices Are Associated With Active Uveitis in Ankylosing Spondylitis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Hematological inflammation indices reflect the systemic inflammatory burden in ankylosing spondylitis. Patients with active uveitis exhibit a distinct pro‐inflammatory profile characterised by increased NLR, PLR, SII, SIRI, and AISI, along with decreased HALP and CALLY scores.

Association of ERAP2 polymorphisms in Colombian HLA-B27+ or HLA-B15+ patients with SpA and its relationship with clinical presentation: axial or peripheral predominance

open access: yesRMD Open, 2020
Objective To determine the association between endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase (ERAP)1 and ERAP2 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and human leukocyte antigens (HLA)-B27+ or HLA-B15+ patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA).Methods 104 patients ...

A Practical and Efficient Multiplex qPCR Assay for Simultaneous Detection of HLA Cross‐Reactive Groups and Human Platelet Antigens

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This assay enables multiplex genotyping of HLA‐CREGs and HPA alleles from whole blood using qPCR with an integrated parallel negative control. Results are interpreted based on amplification curves and Ct values, with validity dependent on strict quality control criteria for both the target reactions and the negative control.

Current Cell/Organoid and Animal Models for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic cholestatic liver disease with limited therapeutic options and a marked risk of progression to biliary fibrosis, cirrhosis, and malignancy. Progress in PSC research has been hindered by the lack of models that faithfully recapitulate the complex biliary microenvironment and disease heterogeneity ...

Preliminary Validation of the Early Sacroiliitis Screening Tool (ESHST) for Identifying Hidradenitis Suppurativa Patients at High Risk of Spondyloarthritis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
Development and preliminary validation of the Early Sacroiliitis Screening Tool (ESHST), a dermatology‐oriented screening questionnaire for identifying hidradenitis suppurativa patients at increased risk of spondyloarthritis. ABSTRACT Background Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is increasingly recognized as a systemic inflammatory disease associated with ...

A PD1‐CD137L Fusion Protein More Potently Enhances Anti‐Tumour Immune Responses Than Targeting PD‐L1 and CD137 Separately

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
A PD1‐CD137L fusion protein converts the immunoinhibitory PD‐L1 to an immunostimulatory signal and is more effective than targeting PD‐L1 and CD137 separately. ABSTRACT Tumour immune evasion frequently involves PD‐L1‐mediated inhibition of T cell activity, limiting the efficacy of PD1/PD‐L1 blockade, particularly in PD‐L1‐low or immunologically ‘cold ...

Prognostic prediction models for psoriatic arthritis in psoriasis: A systematic review

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
This systematic review evaluated prognostic prediction models used to assess the risk of future psoriatic arthritis in psoriasis patients. The included studies reported modest to moderate performance measures, with limited external validation, inadequate reporting and high risk of bias.

Original paper Prevalence of HLA-B27 antigen in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis

open access: yesRheumatology, 2015
Introduction: Human leukocyte antigen B27 (HLA-B27) is considered as a risk factor for development of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). The aim of this study was to analyse the prevalence of HLA-B27 antigen in JIA categories and its influence on ...
