Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the regulation of HMG-CoA reductase, which catalyzes the rate-limiting reaction of hepatic sterol synthesis. Both mitochondrial and extramitochondrial forms of acetoacetyl-CoA thiolase and the HMG-CoA synthase are present in liver tissue.
