Expression of homeodomain protein CDX2 in gallbladder carcinomas
Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology, 2005Caudal-related homeobox protein CDX2 plays an important role in the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation of the intestinal epithelium. CDX2 is associated with intestinal metaplasia and carcinomas of the stomach, but the role of CDX2 in gallbladder carcinogenesis remains unknown. We analyzed the expression of CDX2 and intestinal apomucin ...

RNA recognition and translational regulation by a homeodomain protein
Nature, 1996In Drosophila, the primary determinant of anterior pattern is the gradient morphogen bicoid (bcd), a homeodomain protein that binds DNA and transcriptionally activates target genes at different threshold concentrations. Here we present evidence that bcd also binds RNA and acts as a translational repressor to generate an opposing gradient of the ...

zhx-1:A Novel Mouse Homeodomain Protein Containing Two Zinc-Fingers and Five Homeodomains
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1996A cDNA encoding the complete reading frame of a novel homeodomain-containing protein, named zhx-1, has been cloned from a mouse bone marrow stromal cell line. The ORF encodes a protein of 873 amino acids, in which two C2-H2 zinc-fingers and five homeodomains have been identified.

The homeodomain of Tinman mediates homo- and heterodimerization of NK proteins
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2005Cardiac development requires the action of transcription factors, which control the specification and differentiation of cardiac cell types. One of these factors, encoded by the homeobox gene tinman (tin), is essential for the specification of all cardiac cells in Drosophila.

How to bridle a homeodomain protein
2010In plants, selective cell-to-cell transport of proteins is provided by the symplasmic pathway, the plasmodesmata. The presence of specific proteins, like the homeodomain transcription factors Zm KNOTTED1 (KN1) and At SHOOTMERISTEMLES (STM), is required for correct development and maintenance of different tissues and therefore essential for plant ...
