The Endothelial CXCR Family in Vascular Health and Disease

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Endothelial cells (ECs) form the dynamic interface between blood and tissue, serving as key regulators of vascular homeostasis, inflammation, and repair. Among the molecular systems governing endothelial behavior, the C‐X‐C motif chemokine receptor (CXCR) family—originally characterized in immunology for its roles in leukocyte trafficking and ...

Atractylenolide I inhibits EMT and enhances the antitumor effect of cabozantinib in prostate cancer via targeting Hsp27

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of Hsp27 and the inhibitory effect of Atractylenolide I (ATL-1) on the proliferation of prostate cancer cell DU145 and PC-3.MethodsMTT assay was used to detect the inhibitory effect of silencing Hsp27 and ATL-1 on DU145

HSP27 and HSP70: Potentially Oncogenic Apoptosis Inhibitors [PDF]

open access: yesCell Cycle, 2003
Stress or heat shock proteins (HSPs) such as HSP27 and HSP70 are expressed in response to a wide variety of physiological and environmental insults including heat, reactive oxygen species or anticancer drugs. Their overexpression allows cells to survive to otherwise lethal conditions.

Apoptosis, autophagy and atherosclerosis: Relationships and the role of Hsp27

open access: yesPharmacological Research, 2021
Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial chronic inflammatory disease of the arterial wall, and an important pathological basis of coronary heart disease. Endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells, and macrophages play important roles in the development of atherosclerosis. Of note, apoptosis and autophagy, two types of programmed cell death, influence

Harnessing Phytochemicals for Brain Cancer Therapy: Insights Into Medulloblastoma and Glioblastoma Treatment

open access: yesPhytochemical Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary brain tumors are life‐threatening diseases. Glioblastoma is the most aggressive type with a poor prognosis. Medulloblastoma is the most common pediatric brain tumor. While surgical treatments often result in recurrences owing to the complex nature of the tumor microenvironment, conventional treatments lower the quality of life of ...

Compartmentalisation in cAMP signalling: A phase separation perspective

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cells rely on precise spatiotemporal control of signalling pathways to ensure functional specificity. The compartmentalisation of cyclic AMP (cAMP) and protein kinase A (PKA) signalling enables distinct cellular responses within a crowded cytoplasmic space.

NEW INDICATORS OF HSP27 FUNCTIONAL STATE IN BREAST CANCER CELLS WITH DIFFERENT VARIANTS OF HER2/NEU-STATUS

open access: yesСибирский онкологический журнал, 2016
New and original values (coefficient of phosphorylation and coefficient of intracellular distribution) proposed. They are reflecting a functional state of the heat shock protein 27 kDa (Hsp27) in tumor cells of breast cancer.

Studies relating to protein expression in the uterus of the cow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
End of project reportEmbryo loss is a major cause of reproductive wastage in the cow. The majority of embryo loss occurs in the first 16 days after fertilisation when the embryo is critically dependent on the maternal uterine environment for survival ...

Study of protein expresion [sic] in peri-infarct tissue after cerebral ischemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this work, we report our study of protein expression in rat peri-infarct tissue, 48 h after the induction of permanent focal cerebral ischemia. Two proteomic approaches, gel electrophoresis with mass spectrometry and combined fractional diagonal ...

FXR1‐Directed Alternative Splicing of MK5 Drives Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression by Activating GSK3β Signaling

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
The RNA‐binding protein FXR1 promotes hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression by driving alternative splicing of MK5 to generate an oncogenic isoform, MK5‐L, which activates the Wnt/β‐catenin pathway. Targeting FXR1 with an antisense oligonucleotide suppresses tumor growth in vivo, revealing a promising therapeutic strategy for HCC.
