Assessing Angiogenic Properties In Vitro or In Ovo of Pre‐Crosslinked Alginate‐Dialdehyde‐Gelatin Hydrogels Incorporating Boron‐Doped Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Particles

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This study examines the influence of boron‐doped mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGN) blended in cast and 3D‐printed pre‐crosslinked alginate‐dialdehyde‐gelatin (ADA‐GEL). Addition of 0.5% and 1% MBGN did not negatively affect the viability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), or the sprouting of HUVEC spheroids.

Association between IGF-1 and IGFBPs in Blood and Follicular Fluid in Dairy Cows Under Field Conditions

open access: yesAnimals
Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) regulates dairy cow reproduction, while the paracrine IGF system locally influences fertility. In both systems, IGF-1 bioactivity is regulated through binding proteins (IGFBPs) inhibiting IGF-1 binding to its receptor

Insulin-Like Growth Factor-I as an Effector Element of the Cytokine IL-4 in the Development of a Leishmania major Infection

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2018
Certain cytokines modulate the expression of insulin-like growth factor- (IGF-) I. Since IL-4 and IGF-I promote growth of the protozoan Leishmania major, we here addressed their interaction in downregulating the expression of Igf-I mRNA using small ...

Heat Stress and Gut Microbiome Dynamics in Poultry: Interplay, Consequences, and Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Heat stress disrupts gut microbial balance in poultry, impairing nutrient absorption and immunity. This review outlines the interplay between thermal stress and microbiome dynamics and discusses integrative mitigation strategies, probiotics, phytogenics, cooling systems, and genetic adaptation to enhance poultry resilience.

Dual Action of Dipyridamole in Experimental Rheumatoid Arthritis: Suppression of Joint Inflammation and Upregulation of Muscle Anabolism via Adenosine and AMPK pathways

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Introduction Rheumatoid sarcopenia, characterized by the progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass and function, is a frequent comorbidity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), linked to prolonged, severe systemic inflammation. Purinergic signaling (adenosine, AMP, and ATP) plays a crucial role in inflammation, myogenesis, and muscle hypertrophy.

Determination of the Entropic Heat Coefficient of Lithium‐Ion Batteries Based on a Continuous Measurement Method

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Understanding thermal battery behavior is essential for performance, safety, and longevity in automotive applications. This work presents a method to determine entropic‐heat coefficients using continuous quasi‐open‐circuit‐voltage measurements. The method's accuracy and robustness are validated through comparison with potentiometric measurements ...

Altered liver gene expression in CCl4-cirrhotic rats is partially normalized by insulin-like growth factor-I [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We have previously shown that the administration of low doses of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) to CCl4-cirrhotic rats improves liver function and reduces fibrosis.
