382 The Role of the IL-6-IGF-II Axis in Systemic Sclerosis-Associated Lung Fibrosis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Science, 2023
OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Interleukin (IL)-6 is produced in excess in Systemic Sclerosis (SSc). Likewise, microarray analysis of Insulin-like Growth Factor (IGF)-II-treated NL fibroblasts revealed increased expression of the basic helix-loop-helix transcription ...

IGF-II Producing Hepatic Fibrosarcoma Associated with Hypoglycemia.

open access: yesInternal Medicine, 1993
A 67-year-old male was admitted with the complaint of weakness at hunger early in the morning, when blood glucose was less than 40 mg/dl. The abdominal ultrasonogram and computerized tomogram demonstrated a huge tumor in the right liver lobe. Hypoglycemia disappeared after transcatheter arterial embolization. Then hepatic lobectomy was performed.

Foreign gene expression in Hansenula polymorpha. A system for the synthesis of small functional peptides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We describe the synthesis and purification of two functional peptides, namely human insulin-like growth factor II (IGF-II) and Xenopus laevis magainin II in Hansenula polymorpha after their synthesis as hybrid proteins fused to the C terminus of ...

Lectin-induced alterations of the interaction of insulin and insulin-like growth factor 1 receptors with their ligands [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2008
In order to study whether the carbohydrate moieties of the human placental IGF-I receptor (IGF1R), IGF-II receptor (IGF2R) and insulin receptors (IRs) play a role in ligand binding, solubilised cell membrane preparations were incubated with 125I-labelled

Insulin-Like Growth Factor II (IGF-II) Immunohistochemistry in Breast Cancer: Relationship with the Most Important Morphological and Biochemical Prognostic Parameters

open access: yesThe International Journal of Biological Markers, 2002
Recent in situ hybridization experiments have shown a high content of IGF-II mRNA in breast cancer stroma. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between IGF-II protein expression and several prognostic parameters in 75 infiltrating ductal

A meta-analysis of individual participant data reveals an association between circulating levels of IGF-I and prostate cancer risk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The role of insulin-like growth factors (IGF) in prostate cancer development is not fully understood. To investigate the association between circulating concentrations of IGFs (IGF-I, IGF-II, IGFBP-1, IGFBP-2, and IGFBP-3) and prostate cancer risk, we ...

Distinct organ-specific up- and down-regulation of IGF-I and IGF-II mRNA in various organs of a GH-overexpressing transgenic Nile tilapia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Several lines of GH-overexpressing fish have been produced and characterized concerning organ integrity, growth, fertility and health but few and contradictory data are available on IGF-I that mediates most effects of GH. Furthermore, nothing is known on

The Intrathymic Expression of Insulin-Related Genes: Implications for Pathophysiology and Prevention of Type 1 Diabetes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
peer reviewedRecent experimental work has challenged and shattered the old concept of a sequestration of pancreatic islet antigens from developing T-cells within the thymic environment.
