Regulation of IL-5 expression.
Archivum immunologiae et therapiae experimentalis, 2002Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a cytokine primarily involved in the pathogenesis of atopic diseases. It specifically controls the production, activation and localization of eosinophils, the major cause of tissue damage in atopic diseases. IL-5 belongs to a gene family shared by IL-3, IL-4 and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and is ...

Abstract The cDNA sequence for human and mouse (GenBank accession numbers X04688 and X06270) predict proteins of 134 and 133 amino acids, respectively. Sequence information is available for both the human and mouse genomic genes (GenBank accession numbers J02971 and XO6271).The coding sequence of the IL-5 gene forms four exons.
