Molecular Defects in a Human Immunoglobulin κ Chain Deficiency

Science, 1985
The molecular basis of a human immunoglobulin deficiency characterized by the complete absence of κ chains has been investigated by nucleotide sequence analyses of a patient's κ constant region (C κ ) genes. Both of his C κ genes had a single point mutation, resulting in the loss of the ...

The structure and evolution of immunoglobulin kappa chain constant region genes in the genus Rattus

Molecular Immunology, 1987
We have cloned and sequenced the C-kappa (Ck) genes from seven species and subspecies of rats which have diverged over the past few million years in Australia. Comparisons of these sequences with each other and the Ck genes of the laboratory rat, Rattus norvegicus, indicate noncoding regions have accumulated fewer mutations than adjacent coding ...

The reported germline repertoire of human immunoglobulin kappa chain genes is relatively complete and accurate

Immunogenetics, 2008
We describe a bioinformatic analysis of germline and rearranged immunoglobulin kappa chain (IGK) gene sequences, performed in order to assess the completeness and reliability of the reported IGK repertoire. In contrast to the reported heavy-chain gene repertoire, which includes many dubious sequences, only five IGK variable gene (IGKV) alleles appear ...

Structural and evolutionary comparisons of four alleles of the mouse immunoglobulin kappa chain gene,Igk-VSer

Immunogenetics, 1989
The mouse Igk-VSer gene encodes an immunoglobulin kappa light chain variable region which gives rise to two phenotypic polymorphisms of mouse kappa chains. The nucleotide sequences of coding and flanking regions of the Igk-VSerc and Igk-VSerd alleles found in recently inbred strains of wild mice are compared with those of the Igk-VSera and Igk-VSerb ...

Monoclonal antibodies against common and Igk-1a allotypic determinants of rat immunoglobulin kappa chain constant domain

Immunology Letters, 1985
SJL/J mice were immunized with polyclonal rat Ig light chains of two allotypes and immune spleen cells were fused with P3-Ag8.653 myeloma cells. 17 cell populations producing antirat Ig AB were cloned. Four clones, 1G9, L3E8, L2B2 and L2C5 have been characterized in detail. All MABs are of the IgG1, kappa isotype.

Relative diagnostic value of cerebrospinal fluid kappa chains in MS

Neurology, 1989
We used receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis to determine the relative performance of different CSF IgG parameters as diagnostic markers for multiple sclerosis. We quantitated CSF and serum IgG and albumin to determine an IgG albumin ratio, IgG index, Tourtellotte's synthesis rate, and Schuller's formula; CSF free kappa light chains ...

Development of immunoglobulin lambda-chain-positive B cells, but not editing of immunoglobulin kappa-chain, depends on NF-kappaB signals.

Nature immunology, 2009
By genetically ablating IkappaB kinase (IKK)-mediated activation of the transcription factor NF-kappaB in the B cell lineage and by analyzing a mouse mutant in which immunoglobulin lambda-chain-positive B cells are generated in the absence of rearrangements in the locus encoding immunoglobulin kappa-chain, we define here two distinct, consecutive ...

[Tissue-specific transcription of the gene for immunoglobulin kappa-chains in a cell-free system].

Molekuliarnaia biologiia, 1988
The x gene of immunoglobulin is effectively transcribed in extracts from homologous, i. e. lymphoid cells; the transcription is weak and incorrect in a heterologous system. x gene fragments with deletions in the 5'-region of the gene and with transpositions of the enhancer have been constructed.
