Fermentation Tubes for In Vitro Digestion of Forages
During in vitro digestion of forages by rumen microorganisms in polycarbonate centrifuge tubes, forage particles formed dense mats which were raised above the level of media by entrapped gas. This did not occur with polyethylene centrifuge tubes. In vitro organic matter digestion was higher in polyethylene than in poly-carbonate tubes.

Triterpenes from Olea europaea modulate in vitro ruminal fermentation
Abstract Bioactive compounds present in Olea europaea have shown promising antimicrobial potential as an alternative to conventional coccidiostats. These effects are exerted by triterpenic acids (TT) present in the olive plant, namely, oleanolic acid (OA), ursolic acid (UA), and maslinic acid (MA).

Effect of a glyphosate-containing herbicide on Escherichia coli and Salmonella Ser. Typhimurium in an in vitro rumen simulation system [PDF]
Glyphosate (N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine) is the most-used herbicide worldwide. Many studies in the past have shown that residues of the herbicide can be found in many cultivated plants, including those used as livestock feed.

Binding of Fusarium mycotoxins by fermentative bacteria in vitro [PDF]
Fusarium toxins can occur in conserved forages impairing farm animal performances and health. On-farm biological decontamination methods could be an alternative to traditional physico-chemical methods. In this work, the ability to remove Fusarium toxins by fermentative bacteria was evaluated in vitro.Twenty-nine strains of lactic (LAB) and propionic ...

Dietary bioactive lipid compounds rich in menthol alter Interactions among members of ruminal microbiota in sheep [PDF]
This study aimed to investigate the effects of two practically relevant doses of menthol-rich plant bioactive lipid compounds (PBLC) on fermentation, microbial community composition, and their interactions in sheep rumen.
