Differences in fat digestion from milk of different Species: In vitro gastrointestinal digestion model for infants

Food Research International, 2023
The differences in the milk fat digestion from goat milk (GM), camel milk (CM), bovine milk (BM), sheep milk (SM), mare milk (MM) and human milk (HM) using an in vitro gastrointestinal digestion model for simulated infants were investigated. The particle size distributions in goat and mare milk were similar to that of HM after digestion in the small ...

In vitro digestion of gliadin by gastrointestinal enzymes and by pyrrolidonecarboxylate peptidase

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1980
The enzymatic hydrolysis of whole gliadin has been studied in vitro using sequential treatments by pepsin, trypsin, and pancreatin. Amino-terminal pyroglutamic acid-peptides were formed at each stage of the digestion process and the concentration of these peptides increased as the hydrolysis proceeded. Digests were further fractionated on columns of AG

Evaluation of the stability of tyrosol esters during in vitro gastrointestinal digestion

Food & Function, 2018
Lipophenols such as tea polyphenol palmitate derivatives (palmitoyl esters of tea polyphenols) have been classified as non-toxic food additives due to their better protective effects on lipidic food matrices from oxidation, but their digestion and absorption have remained unexplored.

In vitro gastrointestinal digestibility of native, hydroxypropylated and cross-linked wheat starches

Food & Function, 2015
The digestibility and estimated glycemic indices (GI) of native (NWS), cross-linked (CLWS) and hydroxypropylated wheat starches (HPWS) were obtained by in vitro enzymatic hydrolysis.

Antimicrobial effect of donkeys’ milk digested in vitro with human gastrointestinal enzymes

International Dairy Journal, 2011
Abstract Individual donkey milk samples were digested in vitro by a two-step model, using human gastric juice at two different pH values (2 and 4) and further continuous intestinal digestion by human duodenal juice at pH 7.5. The degradation of proteins was assessed after each step.

Hyphenated techniques for speciation of Se in in vitro gastrointestinal digests of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2004
A method was developed allowing the separation, detection and identification of Se species extracted from yeast supplements during simulated digestion processes. The in vitro gastric and intestinal digests were studied for their Se compounds by successive high-performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS ...

Antihypertensive activity of peptides identified in the in vitro gastrointestinal digest of pork meat

Meat Science, 2012
This study investigated the in vivo antihypertensive activity of three novel peptides identified in the in vitro digest of pork meat. These peptides were RPR, KAPVA and PTPVP and all of them showed significant antihypertensive activity after oral administration to spontaneously hypertensive rats, RPR being the peptide with the greatest in vivo activity.

Gastrointestinal or simulated in vitro digestion changes dietary fibre properties and their fermentation

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1998
This study evaluated the effect of digestion on the chemical and physicochemical characteristics of dietary fibre and on its behaviour during fermentation. Three dietary fibre sources (wheat bran, barley bran and beet fibre) were recovered from ileal cannulated pigs after in vivo digestion and prepared by in vitro enzymatic treatment simulating ...

Assessing food digestion in the elderly using in vitro gastrointestinal models

With the global population of individuals aged 65 and older projected to exceed 1.5 billion by 2050, understanding the impact of aging on digestion and nutrient absorption is essential for addressing the nutritional needs of the elderly. This review explores the limitations of traditional in vivo studies and underscores the growing importance of in ...
