The Concise Guide to PHARMACOLOGY 2025/26: Ion channels

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue S1, Page S152-S241, December 2025.
The Concise Guide to Pharmacology 2025/26 marks the seventh edition in this series of biennial publications in the British Journal of Pharmacology. Presented in landscape format, the guide provides a comparative overview of the pharmacology of drug target families. The concise nature of the Concise Guide refers to the style of presentation, being clear,

De Novo Transcriptome Assembly Reveals Insights Into Osmoregulation and Oxidative Stress Response in the Gills of the Southern King Crab (Lithodes santolla)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2025.
The Southern King Crab (Lithodes santolla), an ecologically and commercially important species in sub‐Antarctic waters. In this study, we assembled the first gill de novo transcriptome of L. santolla to characterize gene expression related to environmental responses.

Transcriptome analysis provides genome annotation and expression profiles in the central nervous system of Lymnaea stagnalis at different ages

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2021
Background The pond snail, Lymnaea stagnalis (L. stagnalis), has served as a valuable model organism for neurobiology studies due to its simple and easily accessible central nervous system (CNS). L.

Dysregulation of Glial Gap Junction Protein Innexin2 Mediates Seizures and Disrupted Sleep in a Drosophila Model for North Sea Progressive Myoclonus Epilepsy

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 103, Issue 11, November 2025.
Glial Innexin2 expression plays a role in suppression of heat‐induced seizures and maintaining sleep architecture in Drosophila. A North Sea Progressive Myoclonus Epilepsy (NS‐PME) model shows a decreased level and altered expression pattern of glial Innexin2, along with heat‐induced seizures and disturbed sleep architecture.

Detecting the cold: Do innexins function in cold nociception? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Nociception is the perception of and response to harmful stimuli. Nociception is essential for minimizing tissue damage, but aberrant nociceptive pathways can result in chronic pain. Chronic pain in the U.S.

Neuromoduláció sejtszintű mechanizmusainak vizsgálata ideg-izom és ideg-mirigy kapcsolatokban. = Cellular mechanisms of the neuromodulation in neuromuscular and neuroglandular junctions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007

The Pannexins: Past and Present

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2014
The pannexins (Panxs) are a family of chordate proteins homologous to the invertebrate gap junction forming proteins named innexins. Three distinct Panx paralogs (Panx1, Panx2, and Panx3) are shared among the major vertebrate phyla, but they appear to ...

Recent advances in the structure, function and regulation of the volume‐regulated anion channels and their role in immunity

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 603, Issue 15, Page 4255-4291, 1 August 2025.
Abstract figure legend The volume‐regulated anion channel (VRAC), composed of leucine‐rich repeat‐containing 8 (LRRC8) proteins, serves both canonical and non‐canonical functions in vertebrate cells. The canonical function of this channel relates to its original description, which is homeostatic regulation of cell volume in response to hypotonic ...

Immunolocalization ofTaenia soliumgap junction innexins

open access: yesParasitology, 2008
SUMMARYIn previous studies, ultrastructural observations revealed a large number of gap junctions (GJs) in the neck and immature proglottid tissues ofTaenia soliumtapeworms. In these helminths, cytoplasmic glycogen sacs are connected by numerous discrete GJs to other cells throughout the maturing strobilar tissue.
