Solanum tuberosum inositol phosphate kinase (StlTPK1) displaying inositol phosphate-inositol phosphate and inositol phosphate-ADP phosphotransferase activities

open access: yes, 2008
We describe a multifunctional inositol polyphosphate kinase/phosphotransferase from Solanum tuberosum, StITPKa (GenBank accession number: EF362784), hereafter called StITPK1.

Deranged calcium signaling and neurodegeneration in spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3), also known as Machado-Joseph disease (MJD), is an autosomal-dominant neurodegenerative disorder caused by a polyglutamine expansion in ataxin-3 (SCA3, MJD1) protein.

Single‐Cell Profiling Identifies SLC2A5‐Mediated Fructose Metabolism as a Vulnerability in Primary CNS Lymphoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glucose deprivation in the primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL) tumor microenvironment drives SLC2A5 (encoding GLUT5)‐dependent fructose metabolism in tumor cells, while hypoxia induces HIF‐mediated SLC2A5 expression in tumor‐supportive macrophages, revealing SLC2A5‐driven fructose utilization as a shared and targetable metabolic vulnerability across malignant

Cell cycle-dependent regulation of structure of endoplasmic reticulum and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate-induced Ca2+ release in mouse oocytes and embryos

open access: yes, 2003
The organization of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) was examined in mouse eggs undergoing fertilization and in embryos during the first cell cycle. The ER in meiosis 11 (MII)-arrested mouse eggs is characterized by accumulations (clusters) that are restricted

Citrus aurantium honey‐mediated gut homeostasis and anti‐inflammation via Thorl/Nprl2‐TORC1 signaling: Network pharmacology and Drosophila validation

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The study employed a four‐tiered strategy: (1) UHPLC‐FTMS profiling of Citrus aurantium honey to characterize its chemical composition; (2) network pharmacology analysis integrating target prediction, protein–protein interaction networks, and KEGG pathway enrichment to identify the Thor1/Nprl2‐TORC1 axis as a key mechanistic pathway; (3) in vitro ...

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: Insights into the Therapeutic Approach with Inositols

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is characterized by hormonal abnormalities that cause menstrual irregularity and reduce ovulation rate and fertility, associated to insulin resistance. Myo-inositol (cis-1,2,3,5-trans-4,6-cyclohexanehexol, MI) and D-chiro-

Indole‐3‐Acetic Acid Protects Bovine Hepatocytes Against Palmitic Acid‐Induced Lipid Accumulation and ER Stress Through SIRT3

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Cows with ketosis during the perinatal period often experience damage to the liver, a core metabolic organ, thereby exacerbating the disease's inherent vicious cycle. This study indicates that serum 3‐IAA concentrations were reduced in ketotic cows and show a significant negative correlation with hepatic TG content.

The Tonoplastic Inositol Transporter INT1 From Arabidopsis thaliana Impacts Cell Elongation in a Sucrose-Dependent Way

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
The tonoplastic inositol transporter INT1 is the only known transport protein in Arabidopsis that facilitates myo-inositol import from the vacuole into the cytoplasm.

Inositol and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate content of Down syndrome fibroblasts exhibiting enhanced inositol uptake

open access: yes, 1991
Fibroblasts from individuals with Down syndrome (DS; trisomy 21) exhibit increased inositol uptake. Here we examine the relationship between this increase in uptake and mass levels of free inositol and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) in DS fibroblasts.
