Cell Signalling by Inositol Pyrophosphates
2012Inositol serves as a module for the generation of a high level of molecular diversity through the combinatorial attachment and removal of phosphate groups. The array of potential inositol-containing molecules is further expanded by the generation of diphospho inositol polyphosphates, commonly referred as inositol pyrophosphates.

Are inositol pyrophosphates signalling molecules?
Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2009AbstractThe inositol polyphosphate family of small, cytosolic molecules has a prominent place in the field of cell signalling, and inositol pyrophosphates are the most recent addition to this large family. First identified in 1993, they have since been found in all eukaryotic organisms studied.

Among the many derivatives of the inositol-based signalling family are a subgroup that possess diphosphates. In this review, some recent research into the actions of these specialized polyphosphates is analysed, and key goals for future studies are identified, which, it is hoped, will result in the wider cell-signalling community giving considerably ...

Understanding the Catabolism of Inositol Pyrophosphates in Plants
Inositol pyrophosphates (PP-InsPs) are vital nutrient messengers that finely regulate plant phosphate homeostasis, vital for growth and development. The enzyme VIP1, member of the PPIP5K kinase family, central to this network, generates the key signaling molecule 1,5-InsP8 and also participates in its breakdown. Alongside VIP1, Plant and Fungi Atypicalopenaire +2 more sources
