Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Obesity, Insulin Resistance, and Type 2 Diabetes: Associations and Therapeutic Implications

open access: yesDiabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity : Targets and Therapy, 2020
Obesity is a triggering factor for diabetes associated with insulin resistance. In individuals who are obese, higher amounts of non-esterified fatty acids, glycerol, hormones, and pro-inflammatory cytokines that could participate in the development of ...

Theoretical study on the stability of insulin within poly-isobutyl cyanoacrylate (PIBCA) nanocapsule

open access: yes, 2022
To study the physical stability of insulin in drug delivery particles, we developed a coarse-grained (CG) model for insulin based on dissipative particle dynamics (DPD).

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Perioperative factors associated with hyperglycemia after pediatric cardiac surgery and impact of hyperglycemia on morbidity and mortality

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2018
This retrospective, observational, single-center study aimed to determine the perioperative factors associated with postoperative hyperglycemia (blood glucose level ≥126 mg/dl) and the impact of hyperglycemia on morbidity and mortality in a cohort of ...

Inhaled Insulin: Intrapulmonary or Intranasal?

open access: yes, 2012
Initial attempts delivered the insulin hormone intramuscularly, intravenously, and eventually subcutaneously. Other routes of administration of the drug were explored.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Aldosterone status associates with insulin resistance in patients with heart failure-data from the ALOFT study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
<b>Background</b>: Aldosterone plays a key role in the pathophysiology of heart failure. In around 50% of such patients, aldosterone 'escapes' from inhibition by drugs that interrupt the renin-angiotensin axis; such patients have a worse ...

Glucose-responsive insulin patch for the regulation of blood glucose in mice and minipigs

open access: yesNature Biomedical Engineering, 2020
Glucose-responsive insulin delivery systems that mimic pancreatic endocrine function could enhance health and improve quality of life for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes with reduced β-cell function. However, insulin delivery systems with rapid in

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...
