Donor genetic variants in interleukin-6 and interleukin-6 receptor associate with biopsy-proven rejection following kidney transplantation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Rejection after kidney transplantation remains an important cause of allograft failure that markedly impacts morbidity. Cytokines are a major player in rejection, and we, therefore, explored the impact of interleukin-6 (IL6) and IL-6 receptor (IL6R) gene

Targeting IL-6 Receptor Signaling with Satralizumab in Thyroid Eye Disease: Design of the Phase 3 SatraGO-1 and SatraGO-2 Trials

open access: yesOphthalmology and Therapy
Introduction Thyroid eye disease (TED) is a rare, autoimmune, orbital inflammatory disorder that is disfiguring, debilitating, and potentially sight-threatening.

Increased platelet content of SDF-1alpha is associated with worse prognosis in patients with pulmonary prterial hypertension

open access: yesPlatelets, 2019
Inflammatory processes and platelet activity play an important role in the pathophysiology of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Enhanced IL-6 signaling and higher concentration of stromal-derived factor alpha (SDF-1) have been previously shown to be

Efficacy and Safety Analysis of Roxarestat in Regulating Renal Anemia in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of roxarestat versus recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) in the management of renal anemia in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Methods This was a prospective, open‐label, randomized controlled trial.

β2‐adrenergic stimulation induces interleukin‐6 by increasing Arid5a, a stabilizer of mRNA, through cAMP/PKA/CREB pathway in cardiac fibroblasts

open access: yesPharmacology Research & Perspectives, 2020
Background and Purpose In cardiovascular diseases, cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) participate in the myocardial inflammation by producing pro‐inflammatory cytokines, worsening the prognosis.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Functional and Morphological Improvement of Dystrophic Muscle by Interleukin 6 Receptor Blockade

open access: yesEBioMedicine, 2015
The anti-inflammatory agents glucocorticoids (GC) are the only available treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). However, long-term GC treatment causes muscle atrophy and wasting. Thus, targeting specific mediator of inflammatory response may be

Role of Interleukin-6 and Its Receptor in Endometriosis [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Science Monitor, 2017
BACKGROUND Studies have shown that the concentration of interleukin (IL)-6 in peritoneal fluid is increased in patients with endometriosis; however, whether the disorders involving IL-6 contribute to the development of endometriosis is still unclear.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
