B Cells are Activated via a Nanoporous Interface that Stabilizes Microvilli and Engages Mechanosensitive Ion Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
B cells can be activated independently of antigen recognition via mechanical stimulation through nanoporous substrates. Exposure to such substrates induced B cell microvilli extension into the pores, intracellular Ca2+ signaling, phosphorylation of signaling proteins, and CD69 expression.

Calcium signalling: How do IP3 receptors work? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The intracellular receptor for inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) is responsible for generation and control of very complex Ca2+ signals. New experimental approaches to studying the kinetics of the IP3 receptor are now beginning to give some insight into

Decreased Inositol 1,4,5-Trisphosphate Content in Pathogen-Challenged Soybean Cells

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2000
Phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PI-PLC) has been shown to be transiently activated when plant cells were treated with elicitors. We thus investigated the activity of PI-PLC when soybean cells were infected with the bacterial pathogen ...

Monitoring of IP3 dynamics during Ca2+ oscillations in HSY human parotid cell line with FRET-based IP3 biosensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) is an intracellular messenger that elicits a wide range of spatial and temporal Ca2+ signals, and this signaling versatility is exploited to regulate diverse cellular responses. In the present study, we have developed a

Inhibition of IP3 and IP3-dependent Ca2+ mobilization by cyclic nucleotides in isolated gastric muscle cells

open access: yes, 1993
The mechanisms by which cAMP and cGMP and agents that stimulate one (isoproterenol and nitroprusside) or both cyclic nucleotides (VIP) decrease cytosolic free Ca2+ ([Ca2+]i) and inhibit contraction were examined in dispersed, intact, and saponin ...

IP3 receptors – lessons from analyses ex cellula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors (IP3Rs) are widely expressed intracellular channels that release Ca2+ from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). We review how studies of IP3Rs removed from their intracellular environment (‘ex cellula’), alongside ...

Hyaluronan-binding peptide for targeting peritoneal carcinomatosis

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Peritoneal carcinomatosis results from dissemination of solid tumors in the peritoneal cavity, and is a common site of metastasis in patients with carcinomas of gastrointestinal or gynecological origin.

From individual to collective: Post‐return agency among internationally educated Mongolian graduates

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigates how internationally educated Mongolian graduates pursue professional projects after returning to Mongolian higher education and how some of these projects develop from individual academic agency into collective action. It draws on semi‐structured interviews with 30 graduates trained in Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan,
