Irisin in atherosclerosis

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2021
Irisin, a novel exercise-induced myokine, has been shown to play important roles in increasing white adipose tissue browning, regulating energy metabolism and improving insulin resistance. Growing evidence suggests a direct role for irisin in preventing atherosclerosis (AS) by inhibiting oxidative stress, improving dyslipidemia, facilitating anti ...

Irisin in domestic animals

Domestic Animal Endocrinology, 2023
Irisin is a 112 amino acid peptide hormone cleaved from the fibronectin type III domain-containing protein. Irisin is highly conserved across vertebrates, suggesting evolutionarily conserved common functions among domestic animals. These functions include the browning of white adipose tissue and increased energy expenditure.

Irisin

Current Opinion in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolic Care, 2013
The recently identified myokine, irisin has raised great expectations as a potential target in the conservative treatment of obesity. This review focuses on studies exploring the effects of irisin in humans.Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator-1 α expression in skeletal muscles is induced by exercise followed by expression of the ...

Irisin and Energy Metabolism and the Role of Irisin on Metabolic Syndrome

Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2023
Abstract: Irisin is a thermogenic hormone that leads to causes energy expenditure by increasing brown adipose tissue (BAT). This protein hormone that enables the conversion of white adipose tissue (WAT) to BAT is the irisin protein. This causes energy expenditure during conversion.

Irisin and musculoskeletal health

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2017
AbstractIrisin is a hormone‐like myokine produced in abundance by skeletal muscle in response to exercise, both in mice and humans. Once released into the circulation, irisin acts on white adipocytes to induce the browning response and subsequently activates nonshivering thermogenesis.

Irisin in metabolic diseases

Endocrine, 2017
Irisin is a myokine/adipokine induced by the exercise in mice and humans, which is proposed to induce "browning" of white adipose tissue, its primary target, thus increasing thermogenesis and energy expenditure. Since its identification, irisin has been linked to favorable effects on metabolic diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)

Egzersiz ve İrisin

2021
